Happy New Year folks!
I hope you’ve had the best (white) Christmas and New Year.
Thank you to Eilidh (Turning The Faucet On) for nominating me for this blog award.
Lets get right into it, shall we?
1. Which fictional character do you most relate to and why?
The first fictional character that comes into my head is Cath from the book Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. It’s one of those light hearted, easy to read books but where the characters just stick with you and relate to you. Cath is a nervous wreck and likes to stay in the comfort of her bedroom reading and writing books. I feel like if I were to be a character I’m most like her. If it wasn’t for such lovely, welcoming people in halls I might have never become brave enough to leave my room.
2. What’s your favorite quote?
Are we talking poems? Or books? Because I have so many.. but one of my most recent favorites is from a book called Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig (it’s amazing, if you haven’t already, you should definitely give it a read. Hint: it’s literally £4 on Amazon right now.. I bought it for £12)
“Wherever you are, at any moment, try and find something beautiful. A face, a line out of a poem, the clouds out of a window, some graffiti, a wind farm. Beauty cleans the mind.”
3. Do you prefer sweet or savory food?
EMMM I LOVE ALL FOOD. no shame.
(unless it’s meat.)
4. What’s your biggest aspiration in life?
When I read that, the first thing that popped into my head was to become a music therapist. Now, this could be because I’ve been slaving away writing my personal statement but it’s also true. I haven’t always wanted to be a music therapist but with a combination of illness in my family and visiting Rwanda in the Summer, it’s been something that’s on my heart. I’d love it. I’d just love it.
My biggest aspiration in life is to love and care for people. I have this big idea of setting up a music camp in Rwanda one year, and volunteering with human trafficking organisations, and writing songs, being a music therapist and travelling.
5. If you could change one thing about yourself, would you? What would you change?
If I could change something about myself I’d want to change the fact that I always worry what everybody thinks of me. I just want to be free to do what I please without having to fight against my brain, ya know?
6. Do you have a happy place? If so, where is it?
The thing that has given me the most joy in the world so far was teaching a boy on the orphan and vulnerable children s programme in Rwanda how to play the guitar. You have no idea how unbelievably proud I am of him. I just wanted to take him home, squeeze him so tightly and tell him how amazing and talented he is. I was there for 3 weeks, he came to me to get the guitar everyday so he could practice, he is a natural. I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing. He just picked it up straight away, he has such a gift. And sitting there teaching him, watching his face light up when he nailed a song, watching him walk around playing and singing his little heart out made me cry so many tears of joy.
But my happy place also contains candles, fairy lights, a mug of tea and a good book.
7. Do you have a book that’s like an old cosy blanket that you reread for comfort and familiarity? If so, what is it?
I don’t tend to reread books, I never have. I’m not entirely sure but I read books because I love that feeling of being in their world, getting immersed in the characters and the story line. If I reread a book, I feel like all the spark has gone. I know what’s going to happen and my mind finds it easier to dander off instead of staying focused on the book. If I find a book thats like an old cosy blanket that I reread for comfort, I’ll let you know.
Your Questions:
- What’s your ultimate favorite book?
- What’s your biggest fear?
- If you were to get a tattoo, what would it be?
- Do you play an instrument? Or which would you like to learn?
- Whats the most ambitious/adventurous thing you’ve done in your life so far?
- What’s your favorite band/artist?
- Where is your most favorite place in the world?
I can’t remember how many people I’m supposed to nominate but I’ll just nominate a few:
