Hello lovelies,

This morning I had my Higher English exam and now I have 2 weeks until Higher Art and then I AM FINISHED SCHOOL FOR EVER and ITS SUMMER. Summer makes me happy. I’m pretty much classing now as the start of my summer holidays because, if I do say so myself, I’m pretty good at Art so I’m not too worried about it if I’m honest. I’ll just do what I always do, spend a few days memorising two essays and I’ll be good to go. So now, because I’m so glad that summer is coming, I am going to list some things that I love in Summer.

1. Sunsets. Or more specifically, walking up a hill on a beautiful evening when the sky is clear, taking lots of pretty pictures and then long boarding back down and home. SO. MUCH. FUN.

2. Going to public gardens, having a picnic and taking lots and lots of pretty pictures.

3. BBQ’s and camping on the beach.

(Cannon Beach, Oregon) A family relaxes in front of Haystack Rock, the largest (72m) sea stack on the US coast. This was the first day of fair weather in weeks on the coast, and the shoeline was dotted with small fires from groups enjoying the sunset. As usual with the people I seem to meet here, they all had relatives in Norway. Or at least these thought they did; as their name started with Mac... I said, sure, you might be Norwegian and took them up on their offer of a shoreside drink or five, to prove my ethnic heritage. I thus missed missed a very nice, partly cloudy post-rain photo op of some large rocks. Oh, well. At last the little girls thought I looked like Johnny Depp. As the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. I need a haircut.

4. Actually being able to read that stack of books that I have accumulated over the year.

5. Road-tripping to my favorite cities and discovering little cute cafe’s of the way. Bliss.

What I really want to do more this Summer:

Climb mountains.

This first blog post for Travelling Tuesday is just so predictable of me, I apologise.

California.

Such a typical place for a teenage girl to want to visit, right?
I agree. But I have talked about wanting to go to America for years and years and years and this is one of the places that I would most like to visit.

First of all, the name is beautiful. Imagine being able to say “I live in Long Beach”. It just sounds pretty. Then, we also have the obvious fact that it looks absolutely stunning.

I mean.. come on.

I read from a travel website that “Located in the heart of Southern California, Long Beach blends the urban sophistication of a big city with the relaxed atmosphere of a beach resort. Discover diverse hotels, world-class attractions, cutting-edge museums, award-winning restaurants and a thriving, multi-faceted arts and culture scene. Bordered by the Pacific Ocean, with 5.5 miles of sandy beach front, plus miles of inland bays and waterways, Long Beach basks in the warm glow from our year-round California sun.”

Perfect.

Things To Do in Long Beach

– Queen Mary Ocean Liner
– The Aquarium of The Pacific
– The Pike (An amusement park, I think!)
– Visit Naples (Naples is a neighborhood of Long Beach, California, United States, built on three islands located in Alamitos Bay. The islands are divided by canals which open into the bay. Most of the streets on the island have Italianate names)
– The Walter Pyramid
– Soviet Submarine B-427
– Shopping (obviously)

Where to Stay in Long Beach

Hyatt The Pike:
Hyatt The Pike Long Beach
Renaissance Long Beach Hotel:
Renaissance Long Beach Hotel
Hotel Maya:
Hotel Maya - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel
Writing this blog post did not help my desperation to visit this country. At All.
Much love

Date a Girl Who Travels.

I found this blog post after reading a post by a girl I follow. She re-posted ‘Date a Girl Who Writes’ (  http://kuuleilani.wordpress.com/2014/05/13/date-a-girl-who-writes/  ) Soon after, I found this blog post, Date a Girl who Travels ( http://www.solitarywanderer.com/2012/02/date-a-girl-who-travels/  ) and just added some of my own pictures 🙂

I fell in love with the way it is written and how true it is. Have a read yourself.

“Date a girl who travels. Date a girl who would rather save up for out of town trips or day trips than buy new shoes or clothes. She may not look like a fashion plate, but behind that tanned and freckled face from all the days out in the sun, lies a mind than can take you places and an open heart that will take your for what you are, not for what you can be.

Date a girl who travels. You’ll recognize her by the backpack she always carries. She won’t be carrying a dainty handbag, where will she put her travel journal, her pens and the LED flashlight that’s always attached to her bag’s zipper? In a small purse, how can she bring the small coil of travel string, the wet tissues, the box of cracker, and the bottle of water she’s always ready with, just in case something happens and she can’t go home yet.

Image

Yes, a girl who travels knows that anytime, anything can happen and she just has to be prepared with it. Nothing takes her by surprise, she takes everything with equanimity, knowing that such things are always a part of life. She’s reliable and dependable, traits that she’s learned while on the road.

You’ll also recognize a girl who travels by the fact that she’s always amazed at the world around her, no matter if she’s in her hometown or in a place that’s totally new. She sees beauty all around her, not just the ones featured in travel guides or shown in postcards. A girl who travels has developed a deeper appreciation for life. She won’t judge you, or pressure you to do things you don’t want to do. She knows too much about the importance of identity and self-efficacy, and she will appreciate all the more if you won’t pretend to be who you’re not.

You can make mistakes with a girl who travels, and you can also be as idiosyncratic as you can be. Trust me, she has seen so much worse in her travels, and knows firsthand the vagaries of human nature.

Date a girl who travels, because when you’re with her, you’ll realize that even though she’s napped at a temple in Angkor Wat, went boating down the Mekong Delta, ran by the streets of Saigon, or went skinny-dipping in the caves in the Philippines, she still retains that humility that is the mark of a real traveler. She knows she’s been to a lot of places, but she’s humbled by the fact that the world is still a big places and she’s only seen a small part of it. Seeing this in her can make you feel all right with yourself too; there’s no need for you to do more, to be more. What you are is enough.

Image

When you meet a girl who travels, ask her where she’s been and what she’s going to do next. She will appreciate your interest, and if you’re lucky, she may even invite you to join her. When she does, do. Nothing bonds people better than traveling. On your trip, you will both see each other’s best and worst characteristics, and you can then decide whether she’s worth fighting for.

It’s easy enough to date a girl who travels. She won’t want expensive gifts, you can buy her (or both of you) cheap ticket to Thailand for the weekend, and she’ll be more than happy to take you to the longest wooden bridge in the country. You don’t even have to go overseas, you can take her out on day trips, caving or hiking, or treat her to a full body massage.

You can also buy her the little things that she keeps forgetting to buy for herself; that carbine that will attach her backpack to her seat so that she will feel easier about sleeping on her bus trip, or a backpack cover, a small alarm clock, a money belt, or many another sarong that will replace the one she lost in China.

She won’t mind if you get lost on your way to a date. She knows that often times, the journey is more important than the destination. She will help you see the lighter side of things. She’ll walk along with you, not behind you, pointing out the interesting bits of things you’ll see on the way. Before long, you’ll realize that yes, the journey has been more memorable than the destination that you’ve planned to take her to.

Image

Is a girl who travels worth it? Yes, she is. So when you find her, keep her. Don’t lose her with your insecurities and doubts. Because when she says she loves you, she really does. After all, she’s seen so many things, met so many people, and if she has chosen you, better grab that opportunity and thank the gods that you were lucky enough she’s chosen you and not that bloke she met while watching the sunrise in Angkor Wat, or while whitewater rafting in the Padas Gorge in Sabah.

If she says she loves you, she must have seen something in you, something that can always call her back from her travels, something that can anchor her to the world in the way that she wants to after weeks and months of being on the road.

Date a girl who travels. Make her feel safe, warm and secure. Make her believe that no matter where she goes, and however long she’s gone, you’ll always be there for her, the one that she can call home.

Find a girl who travels. Date her, love her. and marry her, and your world will never be the same again.”

Today was another one of those wonderful days. Now… by the title you’ll already know but guess where we went for breakfast…. Dores!! For, of course, french toast.  We then went for a walk along the beach and Faith and I took a couple of snaps with our camera 😀 After fitting five girls into a folder filled car we arrived home extremely full but so ready to do a day of art day (you will see the results later 🙂 ) Then… we came home and Peta and I were singing in Japanese. It was great!! You speak Japanese? I hear you ask. Nope, but how to pronounce the words is underneath. Yes! How wonderful haha!!

OK, now some pictures 🙂

Vegetarian Week Review and A New Apartment?

29 Thursday Aug 2013

I have been gone for a couple of days. I have had a lot on and I just didn’t find the time to sit and write to you all. I have noticed that I have homework almost every day which I didn’t have in fourth year. On top of that, I spend a lot of time with my friends. So tonight at almost 10.30 when my eyes are closing on me, I am here to write a blog post.

As you all know, I had a vegetarian week. That week turned almost into 2 weeks. Until tonight, I haven’t ate any meat since last Monday. It was kind of strange because I don’t feel the need to eat it. I find that other foods do me just as good because you get used to not eating meat. I’m not a vegetarian as I think that I do need the Iron that meat gives me. Saying this, I might just randomly have a Vegetarian week here and there. Referring to the way I feel, I don’t feel any different which is good. I  haven’t lost any weight or anything which is also good because I am 7 /7.5 stone just now and it wouldn’t be be the best if I lost any more when I need the energy for school.

Secondly, as I said, I spend a lot of time with my friends. Yesterday I went for a cycle with my friend and I took her to a garden that I used to go to when I was younger. Not many people know about it, I don’t think. It is in the town where I live but it’s not noticeable. We both think it’s beautiful. Now, there is a point to what I am saying. A couple of days ago, Rachael, mum and I went to visit an apartment. The reason being, there are electricity pylons right outside our place just now and my mum is always worried about them. I’m not complaining because I like this apartment better. if you live here, its like behind Asda.  So, one of the bedrooms has a really pretty view! I think my mum will have that bedroom and I will have the one with the nicer wardrobe lol! I would like the view too but my mum likes that so she can have it. But, what I am most excited about is that it is just a few minutes walk from that garden I was talking about earlier. Which means, I can be a geek and go there before school and read and journal and maybe even bring my guitar because it is so quite and so pretty.

Today in Aberdeen was another fun packed day. This morning I woke at about 8am and was the first one up. I made myself a cup of tea and partly got myself ready before they also woke up and we had a feast of a breakfast.

Image

I then borrowed Samantha’s hair straighteners and straitened my hair only for it to get wind swept during the day.
Image

First of all, we took a little walk down to the beach and the fishing village since it’s only about 5 minutes walk. The fishing village thankfully had no fishers outside with fish but we saw the cute cottages. We then took a quick visit to Asda to buy some lunch.

Image

ImageImage

After lunch we took the bus into town which dropped us of right outside the cinema. We went to see ‘Grown Ups 2’ I really wanted to see it and so we did a vote on which movie. It was 2 against one so we went for Grown Ups 😀 It was good but kind of odd at some parts. After that, we walked into town where Samantha had to take a picture for her passport photos and then went to the food court. We couldn’t decide. We though TGI Fridays is always good so we went there.

Image

It was another brilliant day! I am super tired after all the walking we endured 😀 So, 10pm = bedtime.

Goodnight 🙂

So I am just going to combine ‘Travelling Thursday’ with our first day in Aberdeen. Today I woke up at about 06.00/06.30 and before meeting Sophie I nipped over to buy a Caramel Chai Tea Latte from Costa. My favorite!
image

The train ride was good. 1, I love travelling which helps but also the mum and daughter that were sitting oposite just kept making me laugh. I don’t even know why:D
So we arrived in Aberdeen at around 11.30 and Samantha met us at the station. First of all we went into Tesco to buy some lunch and then went back to her apartment where I met one of her flat mates and we relaxed and ate lunch.

A bit later, we began our tour. Samantha took us to her university, Sports Village, St Machars Cathedral, the coolest library ever and the Botanic Gardens:) enjoy some pictures:

And we went to the top:

After our immense tour we came back to relax and I painted my nails:D Then, we headed out again to Pizza Express for dinner and also passed the beach.
image

Now, I have never tasted frozen yogurt. After dinner we went to Union Square to have some and it was sooo delicious! Its safe to say, I will never need to eat again. I’m so full. Its so yummy though:D

On our way out we saw this dinosour. Sophie pointed it out.. I’ll tell you what it was.. When Timmy, Samantha, Sophie and I were little we were mad for ‘The Land Before Time’ so Sophie got a picture with Little Foot (the main character). Yes, we still remember their names haha!!
image

After the wonderful, eventful day was over we came home to relax. Feet sore and tired we made tea and watched ‘The Blind Side’. Such a good movie!!

Time for bed, Goodnight

Today was completely and utterly touristy. It was so good! I love being a tourist 😀
First of all we went to Rodel Bahn just outside the well known town of Füssen. This isn’t my favorite Rodel Bahn because a lot of tourists go so slow just to enjoy the view. I think we are still going to my favorite Rodel Bahn before our holidays are over.

Next we went on a Gondel up the mountain abd had the most beautiful view!! Stunning!
Afterwards we headed into Füssen to roam about the town and also buy some post cards. In Austria they have cheap petrol so we took the 10 minute de tour to also say that we’ve been in Austria and to take thw opportunity of cheap fuel.

Coming later in the day we went on a horse and cart to Neuschwanstein which is a pretty castle that the Disney castles were inspired by. Of course I took loads of pictures. I mean loads so just some will be below.

We only maneged ti have dinner at Cafe Central (our favorite) at around 8.30pm. It was such a busy day but also one of my favorites so far:)

Today we went to Staffel See. On Sundays there is nothing open so the lakes are pretty busy. First of all I read some more of my book in the sun. it was boiling today too.. 🙂  After a while I decided to take the paddle boat and go on a boat trip round the island. It is so pretty there!
I actually went twice. Once with my auntie and my uncles girlfriend and then also with brother. I love these boats!! I think its so much fun to paddle.. We figured out after a while that its better just one person paddling. As I was enjoying it so much I paddled most of the time and then my brother also wanted a shot haha! I hope I can go back there and go on the boat again with more people:-)  Afterwards, we also went into the Beer garden right near by. We ate dinner there. Then, I came back to Oma Ingrids for ‘Kaffee und kuchen’ (coffee & cake) and Katharina and I also took some pictures in Oma’s garden.

Tomorrow our friends from Inverness are flying to join us in Germany and also their cousins. I am excited to see them but it will also been 8 more people to try and keep happy with activities we do:D it should be super fun though!! we have to stay at oma Ingrids until around midnight to give our friends and their cousins the key for the guest houses they are staying at.

I will leave you with some pictures!

You can pretty much see what we got up to today. First was of course breakfast where you eat tuns. Especially when you stay with Oma’s. Would you like Fruit? tea? Brazen? yogurt? You probably know what I mean.. so I am so full!! I’m not used to it so when I get home if I’m fat, you’ll know why 😀
First we went to Starnberger See. That’s a lake that my dad and his brothers went to  when they were young with their dad (3 in the pictures, but one is missing, he didn’t come to visit) So we had a walk there and then went into Weilheim to a lovely cafe where I had apple pancakes. Ah! they are so delicious. My dad took the kids menu since it had a banana in it 😀 Then, the of course.. the boys wanted to look in a Moterbike shop. I like riding on the back of my Dad’s moter bike but I wasn’t very interested so I just looked at the colors 😀
We then went to Oma Ingrid and they gave me a T-shirt. It’s awesome! With a guitar and it’s got blue in it. Maybe I’ll post it soon. Now I am back at Oma Ritas and my Dad and her had debates about all sorts so I thought this is the time I should blog. Tomorrow is more exciting for me. Starts with S ends with G:)
