Do you remember the primary school days where the homework would be coloring in a picture to put on the front of your jotter? I wish that still happened. Everyone says that senior year (6th year) is the best year of your life. I have found this to be one of the hardest years school wise, if I’m honest. I mean.. I don’t really understand it because I’m only doing three subjects. That’s the least subjects I have ever done, but it just feels much harder than the rest of my school years. It’s probably because of the pressure of finishing school forever as well I guess. So much happens in 6th year and its SO expensive. Seriously. Take a look at this!

6th year jumper – £15
School dance – £10 (although to be fair I didn’t go so I shouldn’t really be adding it)
After party – £7
Common room – £10
6th year photo – £25
Year book – £15
Social – £30

I mean.. come on. That’s over £100 just for being in your last year of school. its great.

Among all of that, we had prelims in January and yesterday we got our report cards. I’m really weird. I get so excited for report cards. Honestly, I was so excited to go to school yesterday. I just love them because its your school year on a few sheets of paper and its all organised and neat. Plus your prelim grades are in them. I managed to achieve the grades I was aiming for in the prelims!! woooooo! Although, they don’t really matter because we can’t appeal anymore 😦 But its still encouraging to know that I’m not failing. I got:

Higher Art – B
Higher Music – B
Higher English – C

My English teacher thought I was going to fail and so did I to be honest, because I really do find English hard so I’m glad that I passed.

My Art teacher said: (43 out of 60 – this is with out the practical. Art prelims are only theory)
Lisa has worked hard which has resulted in huge progress in the standard of her painting and drawing. She has produced a vibrant unit which shows skill in media handing and strong use of colour. She did reasonably well in the written exam but I feel she could easily improve this mark bu further study of her designers in particular. Her design unit is off to a bold start but she will have to make sure at this level to show some refinement in the work she produces. In the next few weeks she should take advantage of help after school to push her through this final stage of the course.

My English teacher said: (17/30, 11/20 and 12/20)
Lisa has put a lot of effort into improving the standard of her work this term. Despite initially struggling with the demands of the course, she had made a concerted effort to familiarise herself with a challenging novel and add detail to her responses to textual analysis questions. She now needs to work on planning for critical essays, focusing how topic sentences can be used to refer to the task and add coherence to an argument or line of thought. She should take time to proof-read her work ensuring that sentencing and general expression is clear. I would also like to hear a little more from Lisa in class discussion. If she can make an effort to offer her opinions, this will help prepare her for the final internal assessment of talk at the end of February. The deadline for the writing folio is March and it is important that her essays are examples of her best work by this time.

And my Music teacher said:
Instrument 1 Guitar 19/30 – Lisa has been putting a lot of effort into her playing – she lacks confidence and panics when she makes a mistake. try hard to put errors behind you and just keep going!
Instrument 2 Voice 20/30 – Lisa has a nice voice and this is a good grade, but she should aim to improve on this by working on projecting her voice and trying to add more style.
Inventing – You have produced some reasonable ideas. With a little bit more work, making sure you use and identify a range of concepts, your inventions will reach the criteria to pass.
Listening – 21/40 This is a reasonable mark for this element at this stage of the course. With continued effort both in class and at home, Lisa should be able to improve Before May.

Lisa has consistently worked hard. She should have more confidence in her performing and continued revision of listening and literacy concepts will help secure her grade.

So overall, I am really happy with it! Now… time for exams. THE LAST EVER HIGH SCHOOL EXAMS.

Today for lunch we went to Opa’s appartment with our friends. Every year that our friends come he invites us for lunch. They love it. Me, not so much because it has potatos in it haha!! I loved dessert though.. Of course 😀

image

After lunch, I took the free seat in the Macfarlanes car and went to Weilheim with them to have a look around. Afterwards, we went to Staffel See and met my cousins and the auntie I still hadn’t met on this holiday. Sadly we couldn’t go on the boats after 5pm 😦 But Sophie and I read our book while others went swimming. We also had dinner in the beer garden.

Our cousins from Switzerland already drove home today… It was so short! But one of them is staying until Friday when my brother will also go to stay with them for a while. I am sad they left so early and we already had to say goodbye but it was lovely to see them.

When we came back to Oma Ritas we played card games and drank banana milk. So delicious!
Now, I am going to sleep:)

P.s tonight has been the first rain in the whole time we’ve been here… And apparently it could get up to 40 degrees on Saturday! So hot!

Today I thought, was especially warm. Getting close to 30 degrees. I say to people that I will not be impressed until it hits 30. I remember last year, I was in Munich. In the city. Around lunch time, the worst time for heat. And I think to remember it was 35/40 degrees. Seriously unbearable. 30 is good though. Now, if you are Becca, Peta or Rachael you will laugh at this. Tonight it began to get colder. Now when I say colder I mean 19 degrees. I actually put a jacket on.. At 19 degrees… I am usually a human heater 😀 I guess I have gotten used to the German tempretures and now what would be warm in Scotland is cold for me. I have heard of the heat wave in Inverness though!:)

So today we went into Weilheim for a little while before heading to a lake. I bought a salt spray. Sounds weird right? Well apparently after you have been swimming you apply it to your hair to give you beautiful beach waves. I tried it an I am very pleased 😀
After the lake we headed in search of Ice Cream. We came to my favorite Ice Cream parlor in Peisßenberg. Delicious.
In the evening some of us went to a Beergarden. Timmy, Dad and I ate dinner there and Oma and Opa just had something to drink. It was nice:) I also read quit a lot of my book. I am at a really ‘spannend’ part of my book right now. I can’t think of the English word but really exciting and not knowing whats going to happen and all that haha! Oh by the way, I am reading Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. So good! If you haven’t read it, you should! Even though I’m only half way though it my brother of course has already finished it and he loved it so thats a good sign too;)
Anyway, I will leave you with a couple pictures:

image

Look how cute Timmys ice cream is… He only wanted one haha!

And Katharina never fails to choose the prettiest of ice creams 🙂 yum!!

Last Sunday Before Germany.

Today at church the Pastor wanted to remind us of what we talked about last week. Climbing up the mountain. God told him to address this subject again.

So, lets remind ourselves. Coming up the mountain means coming closer to God and having a deeper experience with Him.

Galatians 5: 16-26:

“16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

If we have any of these things we will stay at the bottom of the mountain. Before you start climbing you need to lay aside the things that are holding you back.

“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”

Most of my time during the sermon was taken up by Rachael and I doodling on my note pad. It is the Summer holidays now so the services are family services. They are not long. Now, it is such, such a lovely day today! Definitely in the 20’s 🙂 Good preparation for the warmth of Germany. This is my last Sunday before going to Germany in 2 days!!! 🙂

Truly Summer Time.

I know I know.. it’s midnight. I have a good reason for this which will come clear later 😉

Today I had such a productive day! I started my day curling my hair 😀

image

Then.. I made my friends little sister a gift bag for her belated birthday gifts to go into.
image

Then… I tidied my bedroom and had a clear out of my wardrobe. You all probably know that I am going to Germany in just over a week. This means I need to start packing soon and I thought I had too many clothes to choose from. I am very proud that I can get rid of these which are either too big or I don’t wear anymore. Maybe someone else can make better use of them:-)

image

At 5.30 I went to my friends house to give her, her gifts and stayed for a while to catch up with them. At around 6 I went up to my dads house for a BBQ with our friends who are joining us in Germany. We wanted to catch up before seeing each other in Germany. It was so so funny! we had our food and then played table football. I couldn’t stop laughing , it was hilarious!! of course.. my cat is cute as always!!

Now, here come the excuses. I arrived home at about 8.30pm I though ‘ah this is great. I can do a little workout, have a shower and then blog.’ Yes, I done all that but… this morning I had a small (*BIG) dilemma with my laptop!! I was on it normally and it started making weird noises and came up with a hold load of writing. So, scared I turned it off. Now, the on/off button comes on but the screen doesn’t. I was talking to one of my brothers friends and he gave me so so many things to do to try and make it work but it didn’t. Seriously, I’m going to go to him if I have any problems regarding technology. I wouldn’t of thought of even one of the suggestions he gave me. The solution may have to be that I go to get it fixed because it’s kind of hard when Timmy’s friend is in Spain so he can’t even see the computer. But hey, I have my tablet so it’s not the end of the world:-)  Now, I have just been talking to my cousin. I am so tired now though…. my eyes are half closed. Time for bed.

1. Invigilators with Heals – stomp stomp stomp *pause to look around* stomp stomp. I think they just pace up and down and in their heals, boy that is annoying.

2. When someone has a cold – I just feel like shouting “Dude….. actually just go and get a tissue!!” 😀 sadly they’d rip our paper up for doing that.

3. Being the first finished – Just sitting there resorting to talking to the wall until you hear the creek of someone else’s chair. That’s your que to leave too.

4. When people have blunt pencils – have you ever sat next to someone when they are writing in a blunt pencil? It’s the most off putting thing ever!

5. The speedy one that happens to sit near you – All you hear are pages turning and constant writing and your sitting there like, ehh I’m no where near done.. how can you be so fast? So nerve racking.

Aberdeen, bag, birds, French, friends, German, Joy, laughter, photography, photos, road trip, school, talking, tea, X Factor tour

Oh my gosh!!!! X Factor was… AMAZING! 😀 I will post some pictures for you all:)
I am sitting here with tea to my right and my always huge bird bag on my left with music playing and I’m deciding which pictures 🙂 It was SO good though… we got back at 12.30 so I went to sleep at 1am. I did go to school the next day. School is once again getting stressful mostly because I took 2 languages because we have speaking tests. Although I already speak German I still have to memorize for a prepared talk. Normally I just make it up as I go along but we need to say specific stuff so I can’t do that this time.
Here are some pictures from X Factor in Aberdeen with my friend:

Never Leave My Mind

catchy, God, leave, music, my mind, never, songs, talking, trust, Vicky Beeching

I have no clue which song this is from but it has been stuck in my head for ages and it won’t go out! I think the song is by Vicky Beeching. It goes something like this:

“Who ever does put the trust, put the trust in him will live forever…”

Isn’t that so amazing! If we trust God we live foreeevvveeer 😀
Well, I think so anyway. I don’t know why it is stuck in my head. Maybe, God is trying to tell me to trust him more or maybe its just catchy. I don’t know.
I must say.. I do need to trust God more.. I probably am just going my own way and not concentrating on what he wants me to do. He could well be talking to me through song?? I listen to so many songs and that “part” has especially stuck in my head. Interesting 😛
