I’m just going to get straight to the point. I can be unbelievably undisciplined when it comes to reading my bible. Who would have thought that, huh? Lisa loves to read… so this is weird. Yes, I do love love love to read but I love to read page turners and things that are easier to follow and easier to remember. I don’t know if that makes any sense. But sometimes I feel like I don’t understand what I’m reading when I read the bible and it frustrates me so much and then I’m not motivated to read it. I’m sure I’m not the only one here… Or I read something and I am thinking about something else and I don’t realise I’m thinking about something else until I zone back in and find out that I hadn’t been concentrating on anything I just read. That is probably why Revelation is my favorite book in the bible because ย it intrigues me the most I guess… Fear not! I found a solution. Or, the solution found me.

I am currently reading the Soul Survivor NIV Bible In a Year. Mike and Andy also upload daily videos to help us understand what we are reading which is very very helpful for me I must say. Now, I have failed many times and missed many days but I haven’t given up on it so we’re good! ๐Ÿ™‚

I realise that the title of this blog post makes no sense as yet… It will guys, it will.
You may know that I watch youtubers like Zoe and Ingrid and Fleur. But I came across a youtuber called Cambria Joy and as well as her other videos she makes weekly bible studies too and they are SO good. They are like little 5-10 minute sermons but with so much thought-provoking stuff. There’s much encouragement, joy and inspiration in her videos. So I wanted to share one with you.

I noted down some of the things she said and verses she referred to in my journal.
For example, she said things like ‘Do whatever you’re doing for the Lord and you will find joy.’ and ‘If you’re scared about the future, God will accept you with open arms.’
She also refers to Mathew 6:21 where she challenges us to think about where our treasures lie. Because, we were made to worship something. Whether its money or relationships or attention. We, as human beings, crave something all the time and only God can fully satisfy it. The verse before that, (Mathew 6:20) says that our treasure is in heaven and God is our strength and our song. There is just so much I could write about this one video but I encourage you to watch them because they really are great, light hearted videos and you can really see that she means every single word she says.

On that note, I’m going to go and make some banana pancakes ๐Ÿ˜€ have a lovely, lovely day!

Rejoicing. We Know the End of the Story:-)

Yesterday, as usual, we went to New Hope. I kind of stopped half way so I’m not sure if this even makes sense. We’ll see ๐Ÿ˜‰

There is so much going on in the world right now…ย  Not that I watch the news. I learn most of the world news from, strangely enough, my German teacher..
The world will be afraid of what is happening. The wars and natural disasters, for example but we know the end of the story. We know that this earth was only meant to be short. Or short compared to eternity. We know the end of the story, we shouldn’t be afraid.

Truthfully, I am kind of afraid. I’m afraid of the persecution and hatred but we know the end of the story. I want to be excited and rejoice. My friends and I say that we will live in a row of houses in heaven lol!!

We must rescue our friends and family.
Revelation: 21 verse 1-4
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out if heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying ‘Now the dwelling of God I with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'”

We must trust God. Even though we can’t see him, we must trust him.
God is in charge of everything. Just think, in heaven right now there is a being seated on the throne and he is in charge of everything.

The Bible says rejoice:-)

New Hope – Who is this Jesus?

Last night at New Hope we talked about Who Is This Jesus? So, lets see if I can make sense here…

Rituals or religion won’t make you know God.
1. Measure Jesus by God’s WORD, not mans.
Knowing Gods word is about knowing who God is.

“Now these (Bereans) were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the Word with much eagerness examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11)

To do this we should have daily devotions and journaling.

It is the process of knowing Jesus and becoming like him. You will become more like him when you sit and reflect on what you read. That is when it changes you. If you reflect , there is no going back. Reflection can change us.ย Feed yourself with the Word, becoming faithful and teachable to God.

2. Ask Jesus to reveal himself to you.
“If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching whether (or not) it is of God” (John 7:17)
Be sure to keep an open heart. Jesus will reveal himself but you have to ask.
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me, and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and disclose Myself to him” (John 14:21)
Revelation comes only to those who obey.

If you have a closed heart you won’t have that revelation. He will show you who he is. His very being and heart. You will know who Jesus is.
If we keep His commandments, he will reveal Himself. How? reading His word and being obedient.

3. Respond to Jesus.

He calls us to respond but not everybody does. He wants to reveal Himself. Most of us don’t want to because we know we have to commit.
Do we know everything about Jesus? No. But God does. He knows all the unanswered questions. Some we might only know in heaven. The bible tells us everything we NEED to know to be able to live like Jesus. It is all in His word.
God is a Just judge. He has created us in His image and He has created Heaven for us. He didn’t create Hell for humans. Hell is for fallen angels. It is not Gods will for us to go to Hell.

God needs to be accurate and Just. He holds the universe together with his Word. When God tells us how to live its not because He is a party pooper, its because He is precise and He knows what is best for us.

“And answering Jesus they said, ‘We don’t know.’ He also said to them, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things'” (Matt. 21:27)
In other words, “If I cannot be accountable to the truths I already know, why should He reveal to me truths that I don’t yet know?”

God will not respond to you if you choose not to respond to Him. We need to choose to commit to Him. Instead of getting to know Jesus we compare ourselves to people. We need to compare ourselves to Jesus!
In mans eyes, we think our actions are better than others. Then, you will create your own little world. It’s not true.

“But when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding” (2 Cor. 10:12)
To get to know Jesus is our goal.
Jesus takes us how we are, and changes us.
It will help us to understand who God is. We will value people like he does, not look down on them.

“Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2)
If you think your worthless, its a lie. Also, we’re not better than others.
We have to develop our relationship with Jesus and our life should be reflecting Him.
Ask yourself, do you know Him well? or are you comparing yourself to others? Lets avoid that and feed on His word.

As I always say “The first day back is always the worst”. And it is.. but since we only had a week off it didn’t feel so strange going back. School was actually OK today. But, I did find out that we have to do our music practical in front of an examiner in about 2 weeks… which I didn’t even know. But it’s fine because it’s just what we played in front of the head of music so I already know the songs ๐Ÿ™‚ Just a little re-cap I need.
School was also not so bad because I was thinking for the whole day about tomorrow. X Factor. I am SO excited!! It is in Aberdeen and I leave at lunch and come home to get changed and then go to my friend Emma’s house and then we will drive down. Pop in somewhere to get lunch and go to the Concert. I have never seen X Factor live so I am super excited. The not so good thing is that we will only get home around midnight and I am still going to school in the morning.. I normally go to bed at about 10 and wake up at 5.30/6.00 or if I amย  tired then I sleep till 06.30 which isn’t much of a lie in but waking up early is good ๐Ÿ™‚ I am trying my best to read my bible everyday. I have succeeded for the holidays and today and I am sure it will go well ๐Ÿ™‚ I just finished Revelation and that for me is the most exciting book because it is what is going to happen(: Scary and exciting! I am also journaling everyday with my knew journal. I always journal but this is my favorite journal so far(:

I will take lots of pictures from X Factor and share them all with you! I was silly and left my camera in Norway so now I just have to use my phone but its OK because it has a flash and if it doesn’t work I will just have some of Emma’s.

Here are my 2 favorites:
