I’m just going to get straight to the point. I can be unbelievably undisciplined when it comes to reading my bible. Who would have thought that, huh? Lisa loves to read… so this is weird. Yes, I do love love love to read but I love to read page turners and things that are easier to follow and easier to remember. I don’t know if that makes any sense. But sometimes I feel like I don’t understand what I’m reading when I read the bible and it frustrates me so much and then I’m not motivated to read it. I’m sure I’m not the only one here… Or I read something and I am thinking about something else and I don’t realise I’m thinking about something else until I zone back in and find out that I hadn’t been concentrating on anything I just read. That is probably why Revelation is my favorite book in the bible because it intrigues me the most I guess… Fear not! I found a solution. Or, the solution found me.
I am currently reading the Soul Survivor NIV Bible In a Year. Mike and Andy also upload daily videos to help us understand what we are reading which is very very helpful for me I must say. Now, I have failed many times and missed many days but I haven’t given up on it so we’re good! 🙂
I realise that the title of this blog post makes no sense as yet… It will guys, it will.
You may know that I watch youtubers like Zoe and Ingrid and Fleur. But I came across a youtuber called Cambria Joy and as well as her other videos she makes weekly bible studies too and they are SO good. They are like little 5-10 minute sermons but with so much thought-provoking stuff. There’s much encouragement, joy and inspiration in her videos. So I wanted to share one with you.
I noted down some of the things she said and verses she referred to in my journal.
For example, she said things like ‘Do whatever you’re doing for the Lord and you will find joy.’ and ‘If you’re scared about the future, God will accept you with open arms.’
She also refers to Mathew 6:21 where she challenges us to think about where our treasures lie. Because, we were made to worship something. Whether its money or relationships or attention. We, as human beings, crave something all the time and only God can fully satisfy it. The verse before that, (Mathew 6:20) says that our treasure is in heaven and God is our strength and our song. There is just so much I could write about this one video but I encourage you to watch them because they really are great, light hearted videos and you can really see that she means every single word she says.
On that note, I’m going to go and make some banana pancakes 😀 have a lovely, lovely day!

I listened to this sermon by Nick Vijicic this morning and its definitely worth a watch 🙂 I am sure many have you have heard of him but if not then the sermon gives a brief introduction video which tells you an over view of his testimony.
I thought that it had a lot of encouraging and useful information so I took notes and I’ll share them with you 🙂
I’ve never noticed that, have you?
The definition of faith is complete trust and confidence in something. If you have this, no matter where you are right now, God will come into your life if you let him.
You know, we just have to get over ourselves. We come up with a plan and God is just like ‘nope, I have something better.’ Because if we have Jesus, we have everything.
However, its like a phone call. God phones but we can choose whether to answer or just ignore it. Maybe you feel that God isn’t answering the phone. The thing is, we should not hang up on God because he is still listening.
There are many things in this world that are good. Relationships are good but if we aren’t happy with Jesus while we are single then we won’t be happy with Jesus when we are married.
We need Jesus and we need to run the right race.
In a race when the horn sounds we don’t just stop and chat with our friends… no.. we belt it to the finish line and do whatever we can to get there because we want to win. It isn’t about being first, but if we finish the race, God can say: ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’
Imagine Jesus said that to you?! Things of this world, drugs, sex, fame, fortune, will all fade away. You can’t bring your money, your car or your home to Heaven. You can bring other people. ‘When you don’t get a miracle, you can be a miracle.’
Every morning, we should put the armor of God on so that the next 24 hours will be under the wing of Jesus. There IS a purpose, there IS a race. Get in the right race.
There are many reasons why some may choose not to believe in Jesus. It could be because of suffering or because they don’t believe that God can really love you that much. An example, loving parents love you even before your born, right? That is because your theirs. YOU are Jesus’s child, so he loves you.
This is such an amazing example of healing. Nick went to the Red Light District (in a country I can’t remember) there was a place where woman would be sold for sex trafficking, for slavery, for torture. One girl was paralyzed. She hadn’t walked out for 4 years and in those past 2 weeks she was dying. On the wall next to her were the Gods that she prayed to. Nick came in and through a translator, started preaching the gospel and the paralyzed Girls sister walked in and ordered them to stop. However, he managed to be allowed to pray for the girl. They prayed and they prayed. This was God being tested, not Nick. The girl said something like ‘Prove to me that your God is real.’ so Nick and his friend prayed and after a little while of prayer, the girl went from excruciating pain to jumping around the room. I kid you not. Seriously, amazing right? The interesting this was, that girl, the paralyzed girl, was the one who recruited the kid nappers and the sex traffickers, it was her job to make money in this way. After her experience, she realized that Jesus is alive and that He healed her.
With Gods grace and mercy, we can run the right race. Let him give you the sight that he sees for the day.
Have you ever had a day where everything that could go wrong does go wrong? Often our biggest problems are those little problems which just keep happening. Ever had that? yep.
When that happens, we develop the wrong attitude.
‘Do everything without grumbling or arguing.’
We live in a world that is warped and cracked. People are prepared to blame everything on others. We don’t take responsibilities of our actions and…. if we live like that we won’t shine.
In society, people are looking to blame anything on anyone. If Jesus isn’t the Lord of the little things in your life, then, he isn’t really Lord. If you let the little things build you and develop an attitude, then, Jesus isn’t Lord.
It is how you are behind closed doors. Are you the same person at home? Jesus wants to be the Lord of ALL of our lives.
Our first responsibility is to be disciples together to learn and be an example so that everywhere we are the same.
How do we deal and cope with these frustrations in a way that honors God?
1) Did I cause it?
“A man reaps what he sows.”
Often we bring on our own frustrations. God wants us to start being honest with ourselves.
For example, if your late for work because you ran out of petrol. You are reaping what you sow. Its your fault and your the one who is causing frustration to others.
2) What can we learn?
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
Even when you have the day that you wish you never had, God can make it good. Everything in your day is permitted by God.
Use the irritation to grown in character.
Think, what can I learn from it.
Think, what would Jesus do?
Frustration, bad attitude and irritation is not from God.
If God wants to teach you peace, he puts you in chaos.
If God wants to teach you how to love, he will put you around someone unlovely.
3) What can I thank God for in this situation?
“In everything, give thanks.”
Give thanks? That doesn’t sound right, right? but we should give thanks because God can turn things around.
You don’t have to be thankful for a bad situation but you can be thankful in it.
4) How can I find humor in the situation?
“A cheerful heart is good medicine.”
The Bible says we are given life in abundance. We should have more joy and laughter because we have more things to be joyful about.
Laughter is the shock absorber of life.
That is why God gave us laughter. We need it. Laughter will lighten your load.
“The joy of the Lord is our strength.”
If you want the character of God, look at the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We have it.
If we are joyful, we give others hope. That’s what we’re called to do.
If we have the Holy Spirit, we have strength.
Ask God to fill you with His love.
We are frustrated because we are keeping a record of the flaws of others. When someone is going through a tough time, love doesn’t say “Oh well… they probably deserved it anyway.” no. Love never dies.

After I finished my blog post yesterday, I told you I was going to church. So, at New Hope last night, the sermon was on planet earth. It was about our assignment on planet earth. That planet earth isn’t our home but it is our assignment from God. Heaven is our home.
We need to actually remember that we have an assignment on earth because other wise we will value worldly things more and forget what we are actually here to do.
‘And he said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”‘
‘And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”‘
Why did Jesus say this? I hear you ask. Its because, He is a fisher of man. If we spend time with God then we will also become and this and share the Gospel with the nations. The thing is, everybody is looking for the truth but they don’t know where to find it. They are tired of all the lies. But, people aren’t interested in our religious beliefs. They are just interested about their life on this earth.
If we are to be a Christ centered Church then we will be a church that knows our assignment.
Heaven is going to be amazing right? we all know that 🙂 we will be mesmerized bu Gods work, we won’t see a non Christian. On this earth we can take people with us there, to heaven, to paradise.
1. A Christ Centered Church connects everything it does to a soul.
We are becoming to comfortable on the earth and forgetting why we are here…
‘Do not say, ‘There are yet four months , and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.’
What matters most of all is the souls that are being saved. Everything we do is for the sake of souls. God values Christians and non-Christians the same. We are not just here as a gathering of Christians, we are here also to be Gods co-workers. In Heaven, God will ask us, “How many children did you bring home with you?”
We won’t have another chance at this life again. Now is the time.
2. A Christ Centered Church never forgets her assignment.
You might think God can’t use you. You might think you too young, too old, not good enough, not wise enough. That doesn’t matter. God uses everyone . We have one life to give.
‘So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.’
We are sent people. God has a great plan and purpose for you. He wants us to make the most of every opportunity. To bring them home.
Why are we here? that is the question…
We are here to love others. We made the decision to obey God and follow him.
3. A Christ Centered Church chooses to love the people in its community and its calling to reach them.
No matter how bad people may seem or how unlovable they may seem, we must love anyway. Harder than it sounds.. but the greatest love is the love of choice.
For example, if you run simply because you love loving, you will run forever. When you love simply for loving people, you will love them forever.
‘Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.’
We are here to love. We are here to build people because its people God died for not for things such as our reputations.
Jesus was moved by compassion. Miracles are usually prefaced by compassion.
*look at 1 Corinthians 13.*
Love never ever gives up. The love of Christ transforms us. Love doesn’t force itself on itself. We must trust God always. The love of God transforms us to become like Jesus.
‘Its not the magnitude of our actions but the love that we put into them that matters.’
If we love, even the small things give us joy.
4. A Christ Centered Church chooses that about everything else.
2 Corinthians 5:14
‘For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded thins, that one died for all, therefore all died;’
If the love of God controls us then we won’t be here for us. We will understand that it is our assignment. We always have to know what our assignment is. We have to choose to love the people who God puts around us,. We have to choose to be controlled by Gods love. The Devil will try to tell us lies but we won’t listen to them! In Heaven we will never see a non Christian again, now is our chance to bring others with us, home, to paradise.

Today at church the sermon was about going deeper in our relationship with God. Like, not just knowing about Him but actually knowing Him intimately. Before all this, I realized that the lady preaching was Bubbles The Clowns Wife. Now, Bubbles the Clown was a re-occurring face in all children’s child hoods if they lived at least in Inverness. After all the excitement, we got to the important part, the actual sermon 😀
Did you know, God longs to have a personal relationship with us. I guess it does seem hard when we’ve never sat in a cafe and talked for hours with the person to actually get to know them. But intimacy is much more than just being familiar with someone. Intimacy takes time.
We need to develop trust with people before we share our life with them right? Well, the basis of intimacy with God is knowing who we are and knowing who He is.
We need to know who we are. Sometimes we don’t feel loved and we don’t know what to do. But, we belong to God. We are His! All through the bible, God says He is our King and we are His children. God longs for an intimate relationship.
When I was younger, I thought that being made in the image of God meant that we look exactly like Him. I was always confused by why everybody looked different 😀 Then I realized that it meant we have qualities that God has too. Like, being loving and caring and creative and knowledgeable. We sometimes become what other people want us to be. We become what the most important person in our lives wants us to be. Now, this is fine if God is the most important in your life but for others, other people may be more important and therefore we will listen to them instead of God. We forget what God wants.
We can’t please everybody all the time. Most of us don’t need everybody to love us but we just want someone to value us.
In this world, we are judged by our performance. If we’re not good enough, we’re out.
How do we have an intimate relationship with God? If you only know about God then you don’t know Him. His purpose in sending Jesus was so He can restore the intimate relationship. He is an example of what we should be like. He shows us the way. With God, we can become what we are meant to be.
He is our Father. He wants to see us grow into everything He wants us to be.
He is our King. He is the King of all Kings.
He is our Friend. He no longer calls us servants, but friends. He wants to hang out with us, to spend time with us. He wants us to share with Him when we are annoyed, sad, disappointed, joyful or happy and what our hopes and dreams are.
He is our Lover. God is love.
He can be trusted. He has a plan for us. Nothing surprises Him. Nothing can turn Him away from us.
He is Faithful. He is true and won’t let us down.
He is Just. He fights against evil but always acts in love.
He is Good. All things work together for good for those who love Him. When we grasp His goodness, we realize His glory.
He is Generous. His love knows no bounds. He can do more than we could ever imagine.
He is fun and He wants to eat with us.
That sounds like someone I’d want to hang out with anyway 😉
The more we discover of who God is, the more we reflect of who the image of God is.
Who are we? We are His.

Yes. I really want to travel Europe and all the beautiful beaches. I also really want to visit less fortunate countries where you don’t just sit around a beach all day or go to tourist attractions. I also would love to go to different places and experience the life that they have every single day. Maybe this sounds weird to some of you but I actually want to see slums. Yup. I just want to see it with my own eyes. I’d be way to frightened to sleep there but I just want to see it. I want to see where slavery still goes on and all these bad things that happen in this world. You can watch it on television but with in a day you’ve most likely forgotten about it, right? Or I do anyway. Where as, if you see it with your own eyes and experience it then that experience will never leave you. In Geography a couple of years ago we watched something about Brazilian slums. Like slavery or trafficking, it was just something that kept my eyes glued to the screen, mouth wide open, eyes wide. I think here in the UK or where I live it’s pretty safe. Mind you, I don’t watch the news or read the news papers otherwise I’d just worry about things and I’m much more happy if I don’t so.. I don’t haha! Anyway, here it’s all safe and we can walk to town smiling as we pass by people but in other countries its not like that. The things we would see would be so much different to what we’re used to and I think that is scary but.. I don’t know I just really want to see for myself. Even the thought of people having to walk miles and miles for water and we’re sitting here drinking it everyday with a touch of a button makes me sad.
I mean look,
But then you see this:
Suddenly not so wonderful. Can you imagine all these people who think they have no hope and no purpose in life. If I were them I too would probably wonder why God let this happen but God is good and everyone has a purpose. So, to conclude, maybe one day I can visit and help 🙂

Every family has its own DNA.
“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”
There’s nothing that you have gone through that Jesus has not felt and crucified on the cross.
He did it for people like us. He has no favorites . He value’s each and every one of us.
He did it to help us. So now when faced with temptations we can make Godly decisions.
He did it to help us become family. His family. Citizens of Gods Kingdom. You and I are His family.
At New Hope our purpose is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in such a way that turns non Christians into converts, converts into disciples, and disciples into mature, fruitful leaders who will in turn go into the world and reach the others for Christ.
9 core values:
1. we believe that every person, Christian and non Christian alike, is valuable to God and to his Kingdom.
Because people are eternally valuable to god, they are to us as well. Responsible evangelism will always be our cause and ongoing discipleship will always be the core of the ministry.
2.We believe that “doing church as a team” is Gods design for effective ministry.
3. we believe that a simple presentation of Jesus christ in creative ways will impact and transform lives.
4. In keeping with the great commandment ,we believe every member should commit to a life style of consist ant spiritual growth with honest accountability.
5. We believe that every member is a minister who has been given gifts to be discovered, developed and deployed.
6. We believe that God is worthy of our very best.
7. We believe that genuine love and caring relationships are key to the life of every endeavor.
8. we believe that the most effective evangelism happens through people inviting people.
9. We believe in identifying and training emerging leaders who are fully committed to christ and who will reach their generation with the Gospel.
“Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”
Mathew 25: 40-45:
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.”
we should be doing for one another what Jesus would do for us
2 Peter 3:9
“ The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
God is waiting for you to do what he has asked you to do . that’s why he hasn’t come back yet because we still have purpose in this world. We are here, representing Him. He doesn’t want anyone lost. But the will not be found unless all of us are committed so we can reach our generation. its an amazing privilege that we get to share life with them and share the gospel with everyone. Love everyone with the love of christ. Don’t write them off. He is giving us space and time to change.
We are his family. We have his DNA and are carrying his presence with us. We should value everyone. God is holding things back so we can learn. we need to be fully committed so we can reach this generation and value everyone like He values us.

First of all, I apologise for not blogging the last couple of days. I don’t actually know why… but I’m back!:-)
Last night at New Hope we had a guest speaker who was originally for Africa I think. We continued the series on Trust and how we need to trust God with our lives and choose life.
Love the Lord your God. Obey Him and remain faithful to him. Fear the Lord your God and worship Him. You may wonder what you want. Why are you here?
Because God brought you here. The simple and complicated things have all brought you here. You are here not by default but because He has a destiny for your life. He brought you here for Him.
In our generation people think about what something gives them. They want to do things only for themselves. There is a lot of selfishness. They are in there own little bubble. We need to come out of our shell and realise it is all for God not for us. We are brought here for a purpose by the Creator.
This is what God has done for us. This is where we are. Choose today who you shall serve. God wants you to choose life. It is God who chose you. It is God who called us.
Genesis 12 vs 1 “The Lord said to Abraham, ‘Leave your native country, your relatives, and your fathers family, and go to the land that I will show you.'” his is a calling that God put upon his heart. He didn’t know where he was going to end up but he still went. Sometimes you know who you are in God but you want to do things with your own strength. Your missing out. God has a purpose.
Maybe you don’t understand the power of God in your life or what he has done for you. We must trust God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We must have faith. God is able to deliver us. God cares for you and is able to reach out to you.
Why would God be so interested in us? Why bother with us? Because He loves us! For God so loved the world. He came to save the world. In the small things in life, He is interested. That is the God we serve. Nothing is too big for Him. He looks upon us and says “I love you.”
How do you choose life?
1. Choose to love the Lord your God.
2. Walk in His ways.
3. Keep His commands.
We have His Word to guide us.
Is about two men and the way that God called them and what he asked them to do.
The second half is about the Sabbath day and keeping them holy.
key verse; “I am the lord who makes you holy!”
What do you think about when you read that phrase? he makes us pure?
Everything about Him is awesomely pure.
We call him the Holy Spirit because he is pure through and through.
A meaning of holy is to be set apart. Take communion plates, they have been set apart for a particular purpose.
If you take God as our saviour He has set you apart for a particular purpose.
we belong to Jesus and he has set us apart for a purpose.
1. Jehovah Mekoddishkem He who makes us ‘fit for purpose’
It is important to be a family member. It is vital that you are a child of God.
Verse 2: “see I have chosen bezalel on of uri, the son of hur of the tribe of Judah.”
Verse 6: “Moreover I have appointed Oholiab eon of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan”
None of us are worthy to go into the door of the family home except through Him.
Because of what Jesus has done for us invites us in. If you are going to serve him think, are you a family member? If your going going to be holy and set apart you need to be part of the family .
2. Filled with the spirit.
verse 3: “And I have filled him with the spirit of God.”
why? because if we are going to serve God we need Gods equipment to do the job.
Do you need the anointing? why was God so effective? because he was the son of God? wrong.
Its because He knew the anointing of the holy spirit. We are going to be effective with the holy spirit.
3. Faithful to the Word.
Verse 14: “Observe the Sabbath”
verse 18: “When the lord finished speaking to moses on mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.”
He was saying, he is faithful to the whole word of God. there is a faithfulness to the word of God.
The bits that we like, don’t like, understand and don’t understand, We are called to be faithful to the words that he has given to us.
Even when you see the wall of glass we still have to be faithful to the calling that God has given us. When we are faithful in the little things, he takes us on to the bigger things.
God does everything in one way. god always works by the word of the spirit. creation, redemption, everything is by the word of the spirit.
Praise god for Jehovah mekkadishken.
p.s hope that made at least some sense:D
