I saw this post on Facebook by a girl who has a blog called The Full Time Girl ( http://thefulltimegirl.com/) This is what it said:

‘Our world is so messed up. The past few days you’ve seen article after article about the movie 50 Shades of Grey coming out on Valentine’s Day. I know you probably don’t want to read one more status about it, but hear me out…

We have millions of women- women!- just melting over a narcissistic sociopathic rapist, and calling it love. Sure, everyone wants to be a feminist and scream, “girl power” until it means acknowledging that chains are not the path to freedom. Even Christians are defending domestic violence masked as erotica and torture porn presented as a fairytale? What is wrong with us?

We have men now believing that this is what women want. We are teaching them to be every nightmare we’ve ever had. Men are watching women embrace the idea that they can do whatever they want to women and they will like it even when they say, “no.” But wait, no means no right?? Apparently, not any more….

What are we teaching each other about the way to treat human beings? Like they are animals. We have now crossed a line in our society that can not be erased. A dangerous line- and any woman in a society that freely accepts pedophilia, rape, and abuse as “sexy” should be scared for themselves and scared for their children.

Shame, shame, shame on us. Shame on anyone who would read those books, watch that movie, or talk about it as if it were normal. There is nothing normal about it. There is nothing sexy about it. There is nothing lovely about it. There is nothing harmless about it. It’s flat out disgusting and dangerous, and if you even begin to think otherwise, I am sad for your soul.

Jesus is the only answer. The bible holds the path to purity, and to truth, and to love, and if we don’t start speaking up, and standing out, and being a light, we will drown in the sea of sexual sickness and depravity like Lot and his entire family. Are you willing to lose everything? Go watch 50 Shades of Grey.’

And I just wanted to leave you with that, because, personally, I agree with her.
The stereo typical thing to do on Valentines Day these days is to watch 50 Shades of Grey and it honestly terrifies me. Rape is my worst fear and we are, technically, glorifying it…

Evangelism…

Today at church we had the second part of the series with a lady called Charity preaching. She was preaching about Evangelism.

We talked about how we need to share God with people and that for the last years we have had an explosion of evangelism. There are street pastors, ministries, healing on the streets and others. Now the older ways of handing our tapes no longer works but the street pastors are found to be attending festivals and schools and this will grow.

Charity saw a vision. The vision was of a group of many people. She asked God who they were and He replied that its His army for the end times. wow 🙂

The work place is a place where we should share our beliefs. It isn’t just in the office. It is anywhere you go for the business. Although, now a days in most jobs we just can’t share the gospel with them. We are almost forbidden to do so. That is the problem, if we can’t share we get discouraged that it isn’t working. We must remember that we have spiritual gifts and God can help us with these.

There are 7 mountains:
Church, Media, Arts & Entertainment, Government, Education, Family, Business & Economy.
These are mountains in which we could share the gospel. We do need to understand our purpose and then we live with such purpose.

Charity said that she had a friend who was a doctor. The doctor said she felt much less spiritual than her and Charity couldn’t believe her ears. She said that we shouldn’t be… that her friend is working with God and she couldn’t do what she is doing. That she is doing what God wants her to do and is saving children from parts of their body that are injured so they can live a normal life. How would you feel less spiritual? God gave her that ability and she can talk about God in her work place. That is the way we should think. No one is less spiritual than the other.

What do you feel that God is asking you to do? Sometimes we feel we don’t have the skills or we think we have the skill at a lower level than we need. We can ask God for it though.. There are people who were given a whole language over night because they were called to a different nation.. lets seek him.

Ask yourself these questions:
– What do you have in yours hands already?
– What is the vision/mandate God is giving you?
– Where are you positioned?
– What is your Sphere of influence?

If we know what we have, people will ask us how we have such compassion and joy.. even in the bad times.
People feel that they don’t have power. They play computer games or watch movies but when they are no better of!

Daniel 4 verse 6-8
‘So I issued an order calling in all the wise men of Babylon, so they could tell me what my dream meant. When all the magicians, enchanters, astrologers  and fortune tellers come in, I told them the dream, but they could not tell me what it meant. At last Daniel came in before me and I told him the dream. (He was named Belteshazzer after my God, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)

Daniel carried the spirit of the holy God and you carry the spirit of the holy God. The people on this earth, the ones that wear suits and think they have power, they look for that power in the news and news papers. If the church doesn’t learn how to hear God then the people will keep looking for the truth in these doomed places. Can you imagine the impact Joseph had? God is looking for Josephs and Daniels. They felt overwhelmed and that the world was more powerful but they believed God has the most power. Some of us are overwhelmed but maybe we are building character to build a relationship with God.

Impartation is a secret weapon in the mountains. Jesus imparted the power of the Kingdom but he knew what he carried. We must believe that we can impart. Without saying a word you can ask God what you carry in faith and release that in the workplace. They begin to come to you and open up to you even when you didn’t say anything. God wants us to have fresh hope and lay down the feeling of not being as spiritual as others. We shouldn’t be afraid.

Rejoicing. We Know the End of the Story:-)

Yesterday, as usual, we went to New Hope. I kind of stopped half way so I’m not sure if this even makes sense. We’ll see 😉

There is so much going on in the world right now…  Not that I watch the news. I learn most of the world news from, strangely enough, my German teacher..
The world will be afraid of what is happening. The wars and natural disasters, for example but we know the end of the story. We know that this earth was only meant to be short. Or short compared to eternity. We know the end of the story, we shouldn’t be afraid.

Truthfully, I am kind of afraid. I’m afraid of the persecution and hatred but we know the end of the story. I want to be excited and rejoice. My friends and I say that we will live in a row of houses in heaven lol!!

We must rescue our friends and family.
Revelation: 21 verse 1-4
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out if heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying ‘Now the dwelling of God I with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'”

We must trust God. Even though we can’t see him, we must trust him.
God is in charge of everything. Just think, in heaven right now there is a being seated on the throne and he is in charge of everything.

The Bible says rejoice:-)

The Runaway Bride.

Yesterday while cutting from magazines I came across an article called ‘Runaway Bride The 11-year-old Taking A Stand Against Child Marriage’. That immediately made me pause and read. Maria asked me what I was doing and I told her that I came across this article. She said she has heard about that and saw a short video with the girl recording a video and her escape. If your not like me and your up to date with all the world news I suspect you have heard about this but I hadn’t. I don’t watch the news or read newspapers.

This girl is 11 years old. She was about to be forced in to child marriage. Many would go with it because they don’t know what else to do but Nada new she couldn’t stand this and escaped to her uncle.
Some of her quotes were:

“My maternal aunt was 14 years old. She lasted one year with her husband and then poured gasoline over herself and set herself on fire. She died.”

“Go ahead and marry me off. I’ll kill myself, just like that. I’m better of dead. I’d rather die.”

Powerful stuff right? As well as trafficking, slavery and poverty this is also a big issue in the world. To be honest, I had never thought a lot about Child Marriage until now.
In Yemen over a quarter of girls under 15 are being forced in to marriage. Men 20 years older than them. This is a terrifying reality for those girls.
By the way she speaks you wouldn’t think she is 11 years old. Go and watch the video.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J7_TKgw1To

images

Facts state
– The average age of marriage in Yemen’s rural areas is 12-13.
– Poor families marry off daughter to reduce the number of children they need to feed clothe and educate.
-An estimated 14.2 million girls a year worldwide will become child brides by 2020 is nothing changes!

Terrible!

This weekend I am going down again to see my brother 🙂 I am quit excited. Just like a mini holiday. The sad thing is, is that I will have homework to do while I am there. The good news is I can do more Japanese. I always wake up early and then go to Costa, which brings me great joy that I can find my way to town by myself 😀 So I will blog while I’m there 🙂

Today I had a music performance. On one of the songs I have to go from fret 3 to 7 which is quit a jump if your like me and only use 2 fingers for tab (guilty) yupp.. so I manged it while practicing but in the actual exam I didn’t get it but ahh well:) I tried! It’s sort of a hit and miss. I think it went well apart from that though 🙂 The best part… Getting a cream egg afterwards 😀

Just Laugh About it!

I just have to share this!
I took a break from working hard on French and came to my “reader” on my blog. On my reader popped up “1 new post” about 900 words…. I had second thoughts but then the title intrigued me and I went ahead and read it. I found myself laughing at about every paragraph and I know, it’s long. But it’s really worth the read (If you haven’t already read it)

I do no take much about myself seriously.  At an early age I had to learn not to care what other people think. My dad, very frugal, used to insist he give me a haircut with clippers. It was during the popularity of Mia Farrow’s short cut, so I wasn’t a real outcast because of it…except for the time when he slipped and I had a bald spot on the back of my head.  (Everyone was sympathetic because they thought I had had brain surgery…) Also, during the times of my dad’s schizophrenic episodes, he made sure to let me know that I was ugly.  Being young at the time, I believed him, of course.  However, I sincerely thought, and still think, that beauty on the outside does not matter, beauty on the inside does.

In order to “remain sane”, I do not get easily embarrassed and I have learned to laugh at myself.

For example, the other day driving near our house, I saw my husband’s work van.  Pulling up beside him at a traffic light, I excitedly began to wave and blow kisses.  Until, upon further examination, I noticed that it was not my husband driving, but some other electrician with an identical white van, same ladders on top and roles of wire in the back.  (Go figure there would be another white work van like my husband’s. They are so RARE!)  Anyway, the driver looked at me like I was crazy, and I started laughing.  It was SO funny!  In between giggles, I mouthed the words “sorry, wrong van!”  and I took off so fast when the light turned green that I could have been a contender in a NASCAR race.

At our church picnic last summer, I was organizing the photo of all of the church members.  About 100 people were lined up with a few stragglers.  While walking backwards to the camera, I was giving directions for people to move in closer together. (We all know how easy it is to get a picture of such a large group, with everyone smiling nicely and looking at the camera.) All of a sudden, I tripped over my own two feet and fell on my back, arms and legs in the air.  Several people commented that I looked like a turtle on its back.  Of course, I laughed at myself. Clumsiness is a trait of mine.  So what?  Afterwards, several people came up to me and commented on how embarrassed I must have been.  Embarrassed? Why would I be embarrassed?  I thought it was funny!  (If you picture it in your head, you HAVE to laugh…)

The huge white van I drive is so tall that I have trouble getting into the driver’s seat. I usually do so by  grabbing onto the side of the driver’s seat, hold on for dear life, and alternately pull and wiggle up into the seat.  Sometimes I slip, and once I even fell to the ground with a thud. (Maybe the thud was in my head…because I  doubt the ground actually moved…)  My husband and sons always laugh at me when I get into the van, and I laugh with them.  What else am I going to do?  Well,  I COULD have ridden up on the wheelchair lift on the side of the van, but that wouldn’t be as much of a challenge.

Then there is the story about what happened last week when I met a good friend who is blind for lunch.  I admit I am quite lazy in the morning, (often reading blogs, of ALL things,) and I did not have time to put on any make-up.  As is usually the case, I put it on in the car when I stopped at read lights.  Because I keep one eye on the light and the other on the mirror,  I do one eye at the time; eye shadow and mascara.  It makes a dramatic difference as my eyes are usually kind of squinty and tiny and tired looking.  I often look in the mirror with one eye done and think I look like a “before” and “after” picture on aging, all on the same face.  Anyway, on this particular morning, I was lucky and got mostly green traffic lights.  When I arrived at the restaurant, I excitedly jumped out of the van and ran to meet my friend.  (Getting out for breakfast with a friend is a rarity for me.)  Just as I got inside the restaurant and said hi to my friend, I remembered I only had enough red lights to put make-up on one eye.  ”Oh, well” I thought, “there is nothing I can do about it now as my make-up bag in the car and I am way too lazy to go back and get it.”  I figured that, being blind, my friend wouldn’t care.  And when I sat in the booth, I made sure to put my “good eye” on the side the waitress was.  I figured it I always looked ahead, she wouldn’t notice either!  I had a wonderful breakfast and, with a little laugh to myself, I never thought about it again, (until later in the car when I stopped at the next red light and finished the job!)

The moral of my story is…be comfortable with yourself and don’t care what other people think. Life is too short to spend it worrying or bothered by what you may perceive others think of you. Sometimes what you think they may think may not be what they think at all! And if they ARE thinking it, have the confidence to laugh it off!

————-

So basically from this I got that you shouldn’t be embarrassed or think about what other people say. If something embarrassing happens then your probably not going to see them again anyway. Even if you did, just laugh about it!
