Thank you so much to Eilidh (Turn The Faucet On) for tagging me to take part in this tag. I haven’t done anything like this in a while but I thought it would be a lot of fun. I’ve always been big on reading. Last year I struggled a lot with being able to sit down a concentrate on a book. It was sad, let me tell you. However, if you know me, you’ll know that I love love love books. I love to dive into another world. Anyway, here we are:

2

  1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

Well, I normally don’t have as many as 20,000… but I understand the exaggeration is for effect. Unless you have a homemade library that is. Also very possible! In my case, I live in student accommodation and sadly can’t manage to fit 100 book shelves in my dorm room. I know, I know, it saddens me greatly. However, if I have a list of books that I need to read, I normally just read the blurb of each one and decide what I feel like reading at the time. Either that, or I read the first chapter of each of the books and see which one I find most intriguing. Or just ask a friend to decide for me. I’ve never been good at making decisions, lets be honest.

  2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

Honestly, a book needs to be a page turner for me to keep reading. My ‘to read’ list is almost always so big that there’s no time to waste. I mean, if I have to read it, I will and don’t get me wrong I appreciate the book.. I just physically can’t concentrate or follow the story very well if it isn’t my kind of book. You can call me narrow minded if you like. I love it when you find a book that you just can not stop reading. It’s the best feeling the world.

  3.  The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

I don’t have one of those.

  4. The covers of a series you love. Do. Not. Match. How do you cope?

Oh. Man. This infuriates me. Like, WHY? Why would you do that. I don’t understand. They need to match.. it annoys me as much as when there are first, second and third movies but the story doesn’t continue… they call it ‘the second film’ and then it’s a completely different story. Yea, I’m rambling now. It really frustrates me and I can’t cope and that frustrates me more. Its a vicious cycle aha!

  5. Everyone and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

Since coming to college, I’ve met a few avid readers. Including my closest friend and neighbor here in halls who I was tagged by to do this tag and also another girl who’s room is literally over flowing with books. Its great. We always exchange ideas and perspective on books we’ve read and recommend books to each other. Love it.

  6. You are reading a book and are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I don’t tend to cry over books. I’m not entirely sure why. I cry at films All. The. Time. I think it might be because I can, to a certain extend, create what I’m picturing in my head when I read. Where as, with a film, it’s right there in front of you and you have no choice but to take it for what it is and cry your little heart out. I don’t know if that makes any sense? It does to me :’)

  7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you reread the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads?

I normally don’t re read books but in this case I would. I mean, it depends on how much I loved the series but of course, if it was incredible I’ll want to be up to date with it so I’ll re read it. I did this for The Hunger Games. Best idea ever.

  8. You do not want anyone, ANYONE, borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope?

Typically, I don’t mind people borrowing my books. It depends who it is but if I haven’t read the book I’d have to trust them enough that they’d give it back before I part with it. Saying this, I guess I wouldn’t be friends with people I don’t trust so I think we’re all good.

  9. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

If this happens, I tend to make an effort to find the most amazing book, with hundreds of good reviews and recommendations on the internet as well as by people I know. Finding a page turner normally gets me back into the reading spirit.

  10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

I just buy one book a time normally because who knows, I might change my mind on all of the books by the time I finish the first one so I try to be efficient and just read one at a time. Or… get them from the library in the dozens.

  11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

I guess this doesn’t apply to me ;)Much Love,

    Lisa

So I am just going to combine ‘Travelling Thursday’ with our first day in Aberdeen. Today I woke up at about 06.00/06.30 and before meeting Sophie I nipped over to buy a Caramel Chai Tea Latte from Costa. My favorite!

The train ride was good. 1, I love travelling which helps but also the mum and daughter that were sitting oposite just kept making me laugh. I don’t even know why:D
So we arrived in Aberdeen at around 11.30 and Samantha met us at the station. First of all we went into Tesco to buy some lunch and then went back to her apartment where I met one of her flat mates and we relaxed and ate lunch.

A bit later, we began our tour. Samantha took us to her university, Sports Village, St Machars Cathedral, the coolest library ever and the Botanic Gardens:) enjoy some pictures:

After our immense tour we came back to relax and I painted my nails:D Then, we headed out again to Pizza Express for dinner and also passed the beach.

Now, I have never tasted frozen yogurt. After dinner we went to Union Square to have some and it was sooo delicious! Its safe to say, I will never need to eat again. I’m so full. Its so yummy though:D

On our way out we saw this dinosour. Sophie pointed it out.. I’ll tell you what it was.. When Timmy, Samantha, Sophie and I were little we were mad for ‘The Land Before Time’ so Sophie got a picture with Little Foot (the main character). Yes, we still remember their names haha!!

After the wonderful, eventful day was over we came home to relax. Feet sore and tired we made tea and watched ‘The Blind Side’. Such a good movie!!

Time for bed, Goodnight

My First Day.

No, this isn’t my first day of primary school.
No, this wasn’t my first day of high school or college.
Today was my first day of 5th year. My first day of having only 5 subjects. My first day of having 6th years mixed with 5th years and my first day of having surprisingly quit pupils in my classes. Seriously… you would think when people get to the age of 15 nearly 16 they would at least not talk when the teacher is talking.. but no! 4th year was horrendous for the amount of immaturity in the classes. My brother said to me “Lisa, by 5th year all the annoying ones leave.” He was right in some sense but actually quit a few stayed but they are not in my class so I am very happy 😀 Now there are more concentrated students rather than loud ones so they basically just sit in a corner out numbered by the amount of people working. Don’t get me wrong! I absolutely love a good laugh but I also want to do well and not waste my school years. Especially this year.

Anyway, today was SO good! First I ran into my registration class anxious to receive my timetable from my registration teacher (one of the nicest teachers ever!:D). When I was handed it I was so so relieved. I got teachers that I like. First, I had English with a teacher that I had never had before but everyone told me she is nice. Now, her make up does create great amusement for me because it is quit funny but you get used to it. Then, I had R.M.P.S (Religious, Moral and philosophical Studies) with a teacher that I also had the past couple of years. Since Psychology doesn’t start until August I had a double free period between break and lunch where I was saddened to be told that going to Asda wasn’t allowed and that we had to stay in school 😦 But… it turned out good! The librarian chatted with me and saw that I was reading German magazines. She found out my parents are German and I speak German. Since she studied German too I now think she has great respect for me haha! Her words were “Girls, you are allowed to come in any time you want” (I was with my friend) So, I translated some German, read my book and filled in a form for tomorrows Open Learning College induction.

For the last two periods I had German and Art. In German two people are doing crash Higher. One speaks Dutch so some of it she understands and the other is someone who I actually know from ages ago. He went to my church when we were younger. His mum comes from Austria so he too has some background of German. I can tell you.. they are learning fast!:) Oh and I got the German teacher I wanted too 🙂 I’ve had him since 3rd year.
Lastly, I had Art. My Art teacher is a bit odd but I think he’s the best out of the 3.

Overall, I had a wonderful first day of 5th year:)
Tomorrow is time for a day of a 4 hour Psychology induction. I am excited!

Recently, I watched a YouTube video by one of my favorite You tubers (Nikki). She is a Christian who loves beauty and fashion. I find her inspiring. She posted a video on inspirational books and people for example. One of her books was called “Captivating” so I was intrigued about what all the hype was about so naturally I asked my friend Peta who has enough books for a mini library 😀 if it is a good book and if I’d enjoy it. I didn’t know if she had read it but I assumed she had because I mean what book hasn’t she read? Peta said it’s a bit too “Fluffy” and gave me the name of another book that might be good. It’s called ‘kissed the girls and made them cry’ by Lisa Bevere. So, I read the sample. I love it! (although I only read 1 and a half chapters because you can’t read any further on a sample:( ) but it’s really good.. I found myself whispering aloud “mm that’s interesting” or “yea, I agree” and I can’t wait to borrow the book to read the rest. I’m just in the mood for a good book:-)
