Have you ever had a day where everything that could go wrong does go wrong? Often our biggest problems are those little problems which just keep happening. Ever had that? yep.
When that happens, we develop the wrong attitude.

Phillipians 2:14:
‘Do everything without grumbling or arguing.’

We live in a world that is warped and cracked. People are prepared to blame everything on others. We don’t take responsibilities of our actions and…. if we live like that we won’t shine.
In society, people are looking to blame anything on anyone. If Jesus isn’t the Lord of the little things in your life, then, he isn’t really Lord. If you let the little things build you and develop an attitude, then, Jesus isn’t Lord.

It is how you are behind closed doors. Are you the same person at home? Jesus wants to be the Lord of ALL of our lives.
Our first responsibility is to be disciples together to learn and be an example so that everywhere we are the same.

How do we deal and cope with these frustrations in a way that honors God?
1) Did I cause it?

“A man reaps what he sows.”
Often we bring on our own frustrations. God wants us to start being honest with ourselves.
For example, if your late for work because you ran out of petrol. You are reaping what you sow. Its your fault and your the one who is causing frustration to others.

2) What can we learn?

Romans 8:28
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
Even when you have the day that you wish you never had, God can make  it good. Everything in your day is permitted by God.
Use the irritation to grown in character.

Think, what can I learn from it.
Think, what would Jesus do?
Frustration, bad attitude and irritation is not from God.

If God wants to teach you peace, he puts you in chaos.
If God wants to teach you how to love, he will put you around someone unlovely.

3) What can I thank God for in this situation?

“In everything, give thanks.”
Give thanks? That doesn’t sound right, right? but we should give thanks because God can turn things around.
You don’t have to be thankful for a bad situation but you can be thankful in it.

4) How can I find humor in the situation?

Proverbs 17:22
“A cheerful heart is good medicine.”

The Bible says we are given life in abundance. We should have more joy and laughter because we have more things to be joyful about.
Laughter is the shock absorber of life.
That is why God gave us laughter. We need it. Laughter will lighten your load.

Nehemiah 8:10:
“The joy of the Lord is our strength.”

If you want the character of God, look at the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We have it.
If we are joyful, we give others hope. That’s what we’re called to do.
If we have the Holy Spirit, we have strength.
Ask God to fill you with His love.

We are frustrated because we are keeping a record of the flaws of others. When someone is going through a tough time, love doesn’t say “Oh well… they probably deserved it anyway.” no. Love never dies.

Planet Earth as You’ve Never Thought of it Before…

After I finished my blog post yesterday, I told you I was going to church. So, at New Hope last night, the sermon was on planet earth. It was about our assignment on planet earth. That planet earth isn’t our home but it is our assignment from God. Heaven is our home.

We need to actually remember that we have an assignment on earth because other wise we will value worldly things more and forget what we are actually here to do.

Mathew 4:19
‘And he said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”‘

Mark 1:17
‘
And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”‘

Why did Jesus say this? I hear you ask. Its because, He is a fisher of man. If we spend time with God then we will also become and this and share the Gospel with the nations. The thing is, everybody is looking for the truth but they don’t know where to find it. They are tired of all the lies. But, people aren’t interested in our religious beliefs. They are just interested about their life on this earth.
If we are to be a Christ centered Church then we will be a church that knows our assignment.
Heaven is going to be amazing right? we all know that 🙂 we will be mesmerized bu Gods work, we won’t see a non Christian. On this earth we can take people with us there, to heaven, to paradise.

1. A Christ Centered Church connects everything it does to a soul.
We are becoming to comfortable on the earth and forgetting why we are here…

John 4:35
‘Do not say, ‘There are yet four months , and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.’

What matters most of all is the souls that are being saved. Everything we do is for the sake of souls. God values Christians and non-Christians the same. We are not just here as a gathering of Christians, we are here also to be Gods co-workers. In Heaven, God will ask us, “How many  children did you bring home with you?”
We won’t have another chance at this life again. Now is the time.

2. A Christ Centered Church never forgets her assignment.
You might think God can’t use you. You might think you too young, too old, not good enough, not wise enough. That doesn’t matter. God uses everyone . We have one life to give.

John 20:21
‘So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.’
We are sent people. God has a great plan and purpose for you. He wants us to make the most of every opportunity. To bring them home.

Why are we here? that is the question…
We are here to love others. We made the decision to obey God and follow him.

3. A Christ Centered Church chooses to love the people in its community and its calling to reach them.
No matter how bad people may seem or how unlovable they may seem, we must love anyway. Harder than it sounds.. but the greatest love is the love of choice.

For example, if you run simply because you love loving, you will run forever. When you love simply for loving people, you will love them forever.

Mathew 20:34
‘Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.’

We are here to love. We are here to build people because its people God died for not for things such as our reputations.
Jesus was moved by compassion. Miracles are usually prefaced by compassion.

*look at 1 Corinthians 13.*

Love never ever gives up. The love of Christ transforms us. Love doesn’t force itself on itself. We must trust God always. The love of God transforms us to become like Jesus.
‘Its not the magnitude of our actions but the love that we put into them that matters.’
If we love, even the small things give us joy.

4. A Christ Centered Church chooses that about everything else.
2 Corinthians 5:14
‘For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded thins, that one died for all, therefore all died;’

If the love of God controls us then we won’t be here for us. We will understand that it is our assignment. We always have to know what our assignment is. We have to choose to love the people who God puts around us,. We have to choose to be controlled by Gods love. The Devil will try to tell us lies but we won’t listen to them! In Heaven we will never see a non Christian again, now is our chance to bring others with us, home, to paradise.

The Power of Patience and The Beach :D

Today in church we were looking at another one of the fruits, patience.
Patience is very, very powerful.

Romans 15:5
“Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one towards another according to Christ Jesus.”
1 Peter 3:9
“He is patient with you not wanting anyone to perish but all to come to repentance.”

For 120 years, God waits patiently. When your little there is a 3 second rule where if you didn’t do what you were told with in the 3 seconds, war brakes out or… at least, you were made to sit on the ‘naughty step’. God waited 120 years. He is patient with us!
Before we were born, he planted gospel seeds in our hearts. Gods patience is inexhaustible. Everything about God is inexhaustible. He works in the lives of people until they come to repentance.

He is patient to that we will be like minded with Him. Why should we be patient?
1. “So that in me Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience.”
2. “A patient man has great understanding.”
3. “A hot tempered man stirs up dissension but a patient man calms the quarrel.”
4. “Better a patience man than a warrior.”

How can we be more patient?
Ask, abide, appreciate Gods timing. We live in an instant world.. even now, when everything is so so fast, where an email is sent with in a short couple of seconds, even then, we need to be patient with Gods timing.

God is not in a rush but He is never late.

Today after church we had a BBQ at a beautiful beach. So, as always, take a look at some pictures 😉

God of Peace.

First of all, today we reunited with Peta after her being on her Summer travels for a couple of months. She gave us a couple of gifts and I can truly say I am stoked 😀 I am still laughing at these Japanese socks 😀 I think I am known (just a little) for wearing pumps and socks when I have cold feet or even flip flops with socks. Now, this will not be a problem! Take a look at these… 😀
Image

I missed Peta. I’m glad she is back 🙂 We went to see Percy Jackson (I think that is what its called..) it was SO good! I might read the books because I want to find out what happens next! I did get into it and started to talk to the cinema screen thinking they’d hear the strict instructions I was giving them 😀 It was good and as always we had wonderful music playing in Peta’s car. I did miss that!  And my wrist is now filled with beautifully cute bracelets from Rachael for doing well in my exams, how sweet! :’) I love them!!
Image

Yes, now I will address the actual title which is ‘God of Peace’. Today in church we were talking about Peace. Peace that God gives and peace that the world gives. Two that are very different. Let me give sort of a funny example: When a police man drives behind you in their car with flashing lights I don’t know about you but I automatically check that I look tall enough to sit in the front seat (Yep! I must be that small) and that my seat belt is on show for all to see. We have 1000 questions running through our mind. If we do not have peace with a police officer who knows so little about us, how will we feel and react when we meet with God who knows everything about us?
Its true though right.

God wants to give us peace forever. Alcohol or badly worded music can give us peace for a little while but not for long.
If you want to know the peace of God, you need to know the peace with God..

As Christians, we can know the peace of God.

In Lukes Gospel, it tells us about some that lost their faith. They lost their faith because they weren’t listening, looking or learning.
You can retain your peace if you are standing on the promises of God.

They were looking but they were not seeing. We look at Jesus so we can follow His example. Jesus is our example.

They lost their peace because they were not learning. We should learn everyday about the greatness of God. We should know Him more.

He is walking with us during problems or difficult situations we have. Be anxious for nothing but make your request know and have peace in the Lord 🙂

And here we are, reunited and looking even more ridiculous than ever 😀

God Is Love.

Now, I realize this was my first time back at church since before Germany so I think I am a bit behind with all the sermons but today we looked at a fruit of the spirit, Love.

God’s love:
– His character
– It’s everlasting
– For everybody
– The unlovely
– His motivation.

Let me explain.
How do we describe God? God is love. If you look into other religions, if you read the Koran there is nothing that says anything about God of love. Our God has everlasting love. Everlasting. Whether you are pleasing him and serving Him or doing things that break his heart, his love never changes. He loves you always. God loves the unlovely. For God so loved the world that He gave His only son. Why? because he loves us, even the unlovely.

We need to have passion for the lost. We need to love the lost like God loves the lost.
Love is: Patient, not jealous, not proud, not self seeking, no wrongs, rejoices in truth, trusts, perseveres, kind, does not brag, not rude, not angered, no delight in evil, protects, hopes, love never fails. We must not keep records of any wrongs!

Now, love is tough. God says we are to love God, we are to love each other, we are to love our neighbor, we are to love our enemies, we need to love with all our mind, heart, soul and strength (Just like Maria explained in the kids talk during the service).

There is good news! It is Gods love through us. *exhale*. That makes it easier right? Its a fruit of the spirit.
Our responsibility is to “Enjoy serving the Lord and he will give you what you want.” (Psalm 37 verse 4)

There are results of loving.
1. God gets excited.
2. The world is touched.
3. We are enriched.

The love of Jesus flows in our lives.
Amen.

P.s you have homework! Well, we got homework 😀 Our Pastor said we should read Ephesians chapter 3 verse 14 to 21 (The end of the chapter) every day for a week (or longer if you like;) )  I encourage you to do the same 🙂

Now, after church Rachael and I longboarded back to her house. Just for the fun of it. I did have a rather funny experience. Just as we were leaving Peta, your longboard decided to make its way into the bike compartment. Now baring in mind it’s a Sunday which meant all gates were shut and probably padlocked, so this led me to having one choice. Climb the fence. I’m about 5’1, I estimate the gate being double the size of me if not more so I had to sort of pull myself up over it, in a dress. Lol!! It was quit funny. I guess all those childhood years of climbing trees does come in handy in situations like these 😀

Somewhere I have always wanted to go is America. I don’t know why. I guess I just imagine it to be beautiful. I know, other places are beautiful too but I just want to see it. Maybe it is all the movies that are made in America or maybe it’s the people. Either way, I would love to visit. I also think that it would be a cool place to visit with friends.

My friend and I already made a plan 😀 We’re going to go on a America tour. Whether it happens or not, I don’t know 😀 So, now Becca can also drive we have another driver haha! The 2 places that I would most like to visit are California and New York. I also really want to go to I HOP one day too! I would love to study there too but it’s free here and costs a tun over there so I’m not sure how that is going to work out 😀

What Does DNA Mean?

06 Saturday Jul 2013

Every family has its own DNA.
Hebrews 2:10-18:

“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.  For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them,  fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.  Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”

There’s nothing that you have gone through that Jesus has not felt and crucified on the cross.
He did it for people like us. He has no favorites . He value’s each and every one of us.
He did it to help us. So now when faced with temptations we can make Godly decisions.
He did it to help us become family. His family. Citizens of Gods Kingdom. You and I are His family.

At New Hope our purpose is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in such a way that turns non Christians into converts, converts into disciples, and disciples into mature, fruitful leaders who will in turn go into the world and reach the others for Christ.

9 core values:
1. we believe that every person, Christian and non Christian alike, is valuable to God and to his Kingdom.

Because people are eternally valuable to god, they are to us as well. Responsible evangelism will always be our cause and ongoing discipleship will always be the core of the ministry.

2.We believe that “doing church as a team” is Gods design for effective ministry.
3. we believe that a simple presentation of Jesus christ in creative ways will impact and transform lives.
4. In keeping with the great commandment ,we believe every member should commit to a life style of consist ant spiritual growth with honest accountability.
5. We believe that every member is a minister who has been given gifts to be discovered, developed and deployed.
6. We believe that God is worthy of our very best.
7. We believe that genuine love and caring relationships are key to the life of every endeavor.
8. we believe that the most effective evangelism happens through people inviting people.
9. We believe in identifying and training emerging leaders who are fully committed to christ and who will reach their generation with the Gospel.

Mathew 18:14:

“Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”

Mathew 25: 40-45:

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.”

we should be doing for one another what Jesus would do for us

2 Peter 3:9
“ The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

God is waiting for you to do what he has asked you to do . that’s why he hasn’t come back yet because we still have purpose in this world. We are here, representing Him. He doesn’t want anyone lost. But the will not be found unless all of us are committed so we can reach our generation. its an amazing privilege that we get to share life with them and share the gospel with everyone. Love everyone with the love of christ. Don’t write them off. He is giving us space and time to change.

We are his family. We have his DNA and are carrying his presence with us. We should value everyone. God is holding things back so we can learn. we need to be fully committed so we can reach this generation and value everyone like He values us.

Come Up The Mountain.

Come to me and I will give you rest. Many come from all around the world because
they want to come up the mountains of Scotland. Why do they want to go up the mountain? It must be a tremendous challenge. The view must be incredible. God wants us to come up the mountain.

1. What is God trying to say when He asks us to come up the mountain? He wants
us to come into His immediate presence. God says He will never leave us, nor
forsake us. When He calls us up the mountain He wants to take us in to His
presence to come into something we have never experienced before. We know He
rose again, helps us and loves us but He is saying that He wants us to have a
deeper relationship with Him and experience Him in a deeper way and level.
Abraham, Moses, Elijah and the Disciples are all people who have at different times
gone up the mountain and experienced God in a far deeper way. This is because they accepted the simple invitation.

2. Why go up the mountain? Moriah was the place of provision. We need to go
where God is so we can know His provision. Moses was on Mount Sinai which became the place of Impartation with God. Scotland needs more people who have been up
the mountain. Carmel was the place of Victory. Transfiguration was the place of
revelation. They began to see Jesus as He really was and His glory. Olives is
the place of direction. If you do not know God's will for your life come up the
mountain. Golgatha is the place of forgiveness. Zion the place of destiny. The
city of the living God. The place of destiny.

3.How do we go up the mountain? If we want to go up the mountain we must have
daily devotion. Jesus had a place in the mountain where He went to meet with God
everyday. If Jesus had such a place then we need a place like that.

Fruit of the spirit.... Love, Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self control. What has this got to do with it? These fruits represents the exact character of God. The more fruit we produce the closer to
we come to God. We get closer to the heart of God. The more we produce these
fruits the higher we come up the mountain. We don't work for these fruits. God
plants them within us. We need fruits that last through every situation. Do you
have a desire for more fruit?Galations 5:20-21 Bitterness, gossip. back biting, hatred, strife, jealousy,
anger etc take us to the bottom of the mountain. This does apply to us today.
While we're living in these realms we are at the bottom of the mountain but when
we experience the fruits then we go up the mountain:-) Its like steps up the
mountain. God loves fruit. God is asking that we leave what was at the bottom of
the mountain and start climbing the mountain.

Choose Life.

Abraham, adventure, Africa, bible, blogging, care, church, commands, creator, destiny, faith, faithful, fear, Fellowship, forever, God, heart, Hope, Isaac, John 3:16, life, Lord, love, New Hope, obey, power, purpose, serve, shell, speaker, strength, trust, United States, verse, walk, Word, world, worship

First of all, I apologise for not blogging the last couple of days. I don’t actually know why… but I’m back!:-)

Last night at New Hope we had a guest speaker who was originally for Africa I think. We continued the series on Trust and how we need to trust God with our lives and choose life.

Love the Lord your God. Obey Him and remain faithful to him. Fear the Lord your God and worship Him. You may wonder what you want. Why are you here?
Because God brought you here. The simple and complicated things have all brought you here. You are here not by default but because He has a destiny for your life. He brought you here for Him.

In our generation people think about what something gives them. They want to do things only for themselves. There is a lot of selfishness. They are in there own little bubble. We need to come out of our shell and realise it is all for God not for us. We are brought here for a purpose by the Creator.

This is what God has done for us. This is where we are. Choose today who you shall serve. God wants you to choose life. It is God who chose you. It is God who called us.

Genesis 12 vs 1 “The Lord said to Abraham, ‘Leave your native country, your relatives, and your fathers family, and go to the land that I will show you.'” his is a calling that God put upon his heart. He didn’t know where he was going to end up but he still went. Sometimes you know who you are in God but you want to do things with your own strength. Your missing out. God has a purpose.

Maybe you don’t understand the power of God in your life or what he has done for you. We must trust God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We must have faith. God is able to deliver us. God cares for you and is able to reach out to you.

Why would God be so interested in us? Why bother with us? Because He loves us! For God so loved the world. He came to save the world. In the small things in life, He is interested. That is the God we serve. Nothing is too big for Him. He looks upon us and says “I love you.”

How do you choose life?

1. Choose to love the Lord your God.
2. Walk in His ways.
3. Keep His commands.

We have His Word to guide us.

Jehovah is different to other names because the others appear less than Jehovah.
The name Jehovah has appeared over 6 and a half thousand times.
Jehovah means Lord. Yahweh means Lord.

Who is Jehovah?
Where does Jehovah operate?
When does Jehovah operate?

The term Lord God has great significance.
Not just Lord but Lord God.
the one who is supreme
The one who is exalted
He is the Lord God almighty.

Jesus is the King of Kings. He has authority over everything.
He is the eternal God.
In heaven we will get to know the one who made us.
Solomon says “Lord you are so great, you over spill the heavens.”
The Lord is the King of Glory.
Every battle He has entered into he has won in a strong and powerful way.
He reins victorious over the enemy.
He is beyond explanation.

In Revelation it says “Hallelujah for the Lord God almighty reigns.”
When Jehovah came in contact with others, others were saved.
This God has an effect on the nations of this world.

Where does he operate?
What is the sphere of His operation? everything that there is comes under His lordship apart from one thing. It covers the heavens. The whole of the heavens comes under his Lordship. Time comes under His Lordship. He is Lord of time.
He is Lord of the animal kingdom. That’s why he could shut the mouth of the lion.
He is the Lord over darkness. he is the light of the world.
He is Lord over the devils work!
This Jehovah is Lord over all that there is. Do you believe that he is Lord over the storms of your life? Jesus Christ is Lord because he comes under Lord ship.

There is one thing where he is not Lord. he is not Lord in your life. He is only Lord of your life by invitation. He has made himself available and wants to be in our lives but does not force himself into our lives. He comes by invitation.

When does He operate?
He is Lord always.
I am means the ever present God. for every person in every nation he is ever present.
He says ” I am the light of the world”, “I am the alpha and the Omega.”
This is my God. he is the Lord over everything.

Romans chapter 10 vs 9
“who ever believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord will be saved.”
We need to confess to the Lord. the situations in our lives we need to confess them because he is Lord of all things and is able to meet us in it.
