Today was the day we headed for a deliciously wonderful Dores Breakfast. As always, it didn’t let us down. Most of us had French Toast with Maple Syrup and Bacon. I don’t like bacon and never have (as far as I can remember) and its Vegetarian week so I just order it for Rachael or Rachaels brother who is always delighted when I don’t finish my French Toast and Bacon lol!! Anyway, it was wonderful and I even tasted the highly loved Banana and Strawberry smoothie. Love it! Before having our breakfast we took Soly for walk along the beach. It was cold, to say the least. I was definitely not particularly dressed for the freezing weather. I was wearing a dress. Not the best of ideas. But the faithful Peta and Maria were prepared with a jumper and jacket that kept me looking hilarious but lovely and warm 🙂

We returned back to the Finlaysons house for tea and I hanged out with Rachael for a but while Becca was picking up her new car!! It’s SO cool… and she’s an awesome driver 😀 I love your car Becca! 😀 Afterwards, while Rachael was hanging out with her school friends, Becca, Peta and I went into town for a Costa, to cut some keys and Becca bought some beautiful blue vans. This is when I really wish I was a size 5. No one is size 6! We had a funny experience cutting the keys where Peta thought that it would take an hour or two until he’d finished but with in the space of 20 seconds he’d already finished. Peta was absolutely astounded which made the key cutters day haha!

We met up with Peta’s parents and ate dinner in a restaurant. Rachael and I shared a plate of Nachos… You’ll see how big it is in the pictures but seriously how could even 5 people eat all that! I think we should of got a small portion and shared it. It was yummy though! They even soled Ginger Beer which was ace!!
Lastly, as it is Saturday night we went to Coffee Affair where some of our church play music. It was really fun, especially because we got to embarrass Rachael by dancing around the street. And it was worth it because people in the streets started going into the Cafe. Great! 🙂 Now, I am tired and Rachael is staying at mine overnight 🙂 I will leave you with some pictures:

Back to School and Vegetarian Week.

Today was our first day back at school after our 7 week long Summer holiday. This time last year, I probably would have been dreading the first day back but today was good. It didn’t even feel like we’d been on holiday, it just felt like it had been the weekend and we were coming back to school. Yea, in all the classes there was a little intro to get back into the swing of things but for the most part we had already started our work 2 weeks before the summer holidays. Secondly, everyone was still the same 🙂 There were even 2 new girls. One from South Africa.. I’m quit interested to talk to her and get to know her. When my friends told me, I was so so excited. I love meeting people from different countries and cultures. It’s so interesting! so, school was great. I hope I really enjoy this year 🙂

You may be wondering what I was on about when you read the second part of the title – Vegetarian Week. No, I am not a vegetarian right now but I have always wondered what it would be like to be one. If it’s easy or hard, if you have less energy from the protein your loosing, if everyone is prone to having Anemia if they don’t eat meat from the lack of protein. Yes, these thoughts were going through my head. Recently, my cousin came up with a brilliant idea of having a week of being a vegetarian , just to see what it’s like. You can check out how it went for her last week here: ( http://mylifelizabeth.wordpress.com/2013/08/19/my-last-week/ ) So, yesterday I was with my friend Rachael and I was reading this blog post my cousin had wrote at the time and I told her about it. Rachael and I thought we’d give it a go. One reason why we’d both do it at the same time was maybe to motivate each other. Now, I have had to do a little more motivating because Rachael already last night ate a piece of chicken lol!! I am proud, I haven’t ate any meat yet and I don’t think I will. I think I’ll manege. Some how I don’t think it will be too difficult at all. Breakfast and lunch I don’t eat meat anyway. It’s just dinner but so far so good. I’ll keep you updated 😉 For me, it’s chicken that I eat the most with a lot of meals so I’ll have to some how substitute that but I am excited to try.

This morning the MacFarlanes and us went to Oma Ingrid for breakfast. We ate Weißwurst which is a Bavarian food. I can only eat one because they are quit rich but so tasty. We then went to visit some people that we knew from a couple of years back.
Around 3.00 we went for ice cream because the MacFarlanes wanted to treat Oma Ingrid:D I didn’t feel like ice cream but I had a waffel!! Looks and tastes so yummy!

image

We then went for walk.

image

We then separated. The MacFarlanes are flying home tomorrow so they needed to pack and tidy. I went for a cycle to V-Markt (Yes Katharina, I finally found it :D)  But I didn’t buy anything. I just wanted to be out because we had been sitting a lot haha!
Ohh and look at the bike I used!! It is Oma Ingrids aunties bike 😀 so cool! For the brakes you move the pedals backwards. Everyone goes around in their modern bikes. I don’t. Love this!:)

image

As soon as I arrived home we ate Brotzeit which is basically bread rolls or anything like that with meats and cheeses. Yummy!

image

We played some board and card games and I came back to Oma Ritas but everyone was gone. They had gone to the cinema. When they came home they said they went to the wrong film lol!!

We went for a walk down to visit a lake that is currently being built. You can already swim in it and there is a place to play volley ball and football but they are are still working on it.

Beautiful Ideas.

I read a blog post this morning. I thought it was written beautifully and I’m sure I will try some of these:-)

1. Push yourself to get up before the rest of the world — start with 7 a.m., then 6 a.m., then 5:30 a.m. Go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sunrise.

2. Push yourself to fall asleep earlier — start with 11 p.m., then 10 p.m., then 9 p.m. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable.

3. Erase processed food from your diet. Start with no candy, chips, cookies, then erase pasta, rice, cereal and then bread. Use the rule that if a child couldn’t identify what was in it, you don’t eat it.

4. Get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. Fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. Sit and eat while doing absolutely nothing else.

5. Stretch. Start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. Roll your head, stretch your fingers, stretch everything.

6. Buy a 1L water bottle. Start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice.

7. Buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. Write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. No detail is too small.

8. Strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear drawer into the washing machine. Put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash everything. Then make your bed in full.

9. Organize your room. Fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor and light a beautiful candle.

10. Have a luxurious shower with your favorite music playing. Wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. Lather your whole body in moisturizer.

11. Push yourself to go for a walk. Take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. Smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. Bring your dog and observe the dog’s behaviour. Realize how much you can learn from your dog.

12. Message old friends with personal jokes. Reminisce. Suggest a movie or sushi date soon, even if you don’t usually follow through, push yourself to follow through.

14. Think long and hard about what interests you. Crime?  Adventure? Long-forgotten romance etiquette? Find a book about it and read it. There is a book about literally everything.

15. Become the person you would ideally fall in love with. Let cars merge into your lane when driving. Pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. Stick your tongue out at babies. Compliment people on their cute clothes. Challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for an entire day, then two, then a week. Walk with straight posture. Look people in the eye. Ask people about their story. Talk to acquaintances so you become friends.

16. Lie in the sunshine and daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t possible. Breathe in, breathe out. Open your eyes and take small steps to make it happen for you.

breakfast, excersize, family, fitness, friends, fruit, rain, running, smoothies, teenagers, weather

Well I wouldn’t call it a roll… yet!
A couple of friends and I have been going running . Today we went on a shorter run and the not wonderful rain came out and decided to soak us all. But, we kept going! Although I did slow down at times (because I’m a short distance runner. You might not think it by how slow I run long distance but I’m the fastest girl in my year for short distance, so just need to practice long distance:) )
It’s fun with friends, you can laugh at each others hilarious looking facial expressions when you have the I can’t go on any longer moments and also chat and then you don’t really realize that your running at all.
I want to try and go running a bit in the mornings:D Yes all the teenagers out there, I am going to get up even earlier to get all ready go for a run and come home to a lovely breakfast. I’m sorry but that sounds good to me! If it’s not windy and raining that is:) In the morning there is no one else around and everything is so quit, it’s nice I think 🙂

Now, this is an achievement I just can not make smoothies… but today before going out for a run I decided that I would try. And… it didn’t turn out disgusting but still a bit of work to do. It sounds like the easiest thing, get some fruit you like cut it and put it in the mixer with milk and yogurt. Ohh but nooooo this has proved a challenge for me:D

Image LOL!!

Today we went to the wonderful Dores breakfast. French toast with of course maple syrup is just delicious. It’s nearly 5pm now so the French toast is very filling 🙂 After that we went on a road trip and found a sweet shop and a gift shop. Another gift shop I love. I bought a cute purse with Roses on it. I love it. We came home and made a video (You may have seen it on my blog) and we’re watching Mean Girls. That’s our day so far:)

Imagep.s If you haven’t watched the video, go and watch it now! It’s hilarious.
pp.s I actually ordered that bag now… I can’t wait until it arrives!

On Friday night my Dad and I landed in Edinburgh to find the car was just being finished. On Saturday morning I was invited to join some friends at Dores for breakfast. We took the hyper Soli for a walk along the beach and then went  inside for a delicious breakfast. All but one of us had French toast with maple syrup. SO YUMMY!! Dores left a great first impression of their food. I can’t wait to go back 😀

Just Laugh About it!

breakfast, Children, confidence, friends, happy, humor, Joy, kids, laugh, life, make-up, news, parenting, schizophrenic, taking pictures, worry

I just have to share this!
I took a break from working hard on French and came to my “reader” on my blog. On my reader popped up “1 new post” about 900 words…. I had second thoughts but then the title intrigued me and I went ahead and read it. I found myself laughing at about every paragraph and I know, it’s long. But it’s really worth the read (If you haven’t already read it)

I do no take much about myself seriously.  At an early age I had to learn not to care what other people think. My dad, very frugal, used to insist he give me a haircut with clippers. It was during the popularity of Mia Farrow’s short cut, so I wasn’t a real outcast because of it…except for the time when he slipped and I had a bald spot on the back of my head.  (Everyone was sympathetic because they thought I had had brain surgery…) Also, during the times of my dad’s schizophrenic episodes, he made sure to let me know that I was ugly.  Being young at the time, I believed him, of course.  However, I sincerely thought, and still think, that beauty on the outside does not matter, beauty on the inside does.

In order to “remain sane”, I do not get easily embarrassed and I have learned to laugh at myself.

For example, the other day driving near our house, I saw my husband’s work van.  Pulling up beside him at a traffic light, I excitedly began to wave and blow kisses.  Until, upon further examination, I noticed that it was not my husband driving, but some other electrician with an identical white van, same ladders on top and roles of wire in the back.  (Go figure there would be another white work van like my husband’s. They are so RARE!)  Anyway, the driver looked at me like I was crazy, and I started laughing.  It was SO funny!  In between giggles, I mouthed the words “sorry, wrong van!”  and I took off so fast when the light turned green that I could have been a contender in a NASCAR race.

At our church picnic last summer, I was organizing the photo of all of the church members.  About 100 people were lined up with a few stragglers.  While walking backwards to the camera, I was giving directions for people to move in closer together. (We all know how easy it is to get a picture of such a large group, with everyone smiling nicely and looking at the camera.) All of a sudden, I tripped over my own two feet and fell on my back, arms and legs in the air.  Several people commented that I looked like a turtle on its back.  Of course, I laughed at myself. Clumsiness is a trait of mine.  So what?  Afterwards, several people came up to me and commented on how embarrassed I must have been.  Embarrassed? Why would I be embarrassed?  I thought it was funny!  (If you picture it in your head, you HAVE to laugh…)

The huge white van I drive is so tall that I have trouble getting into the driver’s seat. I usually do so by  grabbing onto the side of the driver’s seat, hold on for dear life, and alternately pull and wiggle up into the seat.  Sometimes I slip, and once I even fell to the ground with a thud. (Maybe the thud was in my head…because I  doubt the ground actually moved…)  My husband and sons always laugh at me when I get into the van, and I laugh with them.  What else am I going to do?  Well,  I COULD have ridden up on the wheelchair lift on the side of the van, but that wouldn’t be as much of a challenge.

Then there is the story about what happened last week when I met a good friend who is blind for lunch.  I admit I am quite lazy in the morning, (often reading blogs, of ALL things,) and I did not have time to put on any make-up.  As is usually the case, I put it on in the car when I stopped at read lights.  Because I keep one eye on the light and the other on the mirror,  I do one eye at the time; eye shadow and mascara.  It makes a dramatic difference as my eyes are usually kind of squinty and tiny and tired looking.  I often look in the mirror with one eye done and think I look like a “before” and “after” picture on aging, all on the same face.  Anyway, on this particular morning, I was lucky and got mostly green traffic lights.  When I arrived at the restaurant, I excitedly jumped out of the van and ran to meet my friend.  (Getting out for breakfast with a friend is a rarity for me.)  Just as I got inside the restaurant and said hi to my friend, I remembered I only had enough red lights to put make-up on one eye.  ”Oh, well” I thought, “there is nothing I can do about it now as my make-up bag in the car and I am way too lazy to go back and get it.”  I figured that, being blind, my friend wouldn’t care.  And when I sat in the booth, I made sure to put my “good eye” on the side the waitress was.  I figured it I always looked ahead, she wouldn’t notice either!  I had a wonderful breakfast and, with a little laugh to myself, I never thought about it again, (until later in the car when I stopped at the next red light and finished the job!)

The moral of my story is…be comfortable with yourself and don’t care what other people think. Life is too short to spend it worrying or bothered by what you may perceive others think of you. Sometimes what you think they may think may not be what they think at all! And if they ARE thinking it, have the confidence to laugh it off!

————-

So basically from this I got that you shouldn’t be embarrassed or think about what other people say. If something embarrassing happens then your probably not going to see them again anyway. Even if you did, just laugh about it!
